Law Abiding Citizen please. Jaime Foxx. Gerard Butler. This piece of trash movie seems to think it's some mind-blowing critique of the justice system, but...it's just horrible.
The Fast And The Furious is not a good movie, let's be perfectly clear. However, as ridiculously unbelievable, cliched and formulaic it is, I actually think it succeeds as the kind of film it is. The stakes are high, the action sequences are great, and it includes some gloriously cheezy lines that only added to my enjoyment of the movie ("I live my life a quarter mile at a time") I just had a lot of fun with it! I think this movie earns the hatred it does (and rightly so) because the endless string of legitimately horrible movies it spawned, as well as the increased popularity of street race culture and subsequently a lot of people dying.
I would love it if Dogtooth won. There'd be a few people who would be like "Hey, this little Greek film won an oscar, we should rent it". And then they would watch it. Then there would be no going back.
YES. SECONDED. Never have I seen a movie with more contempt for its audience. A hateful mess. I might also nominate any other films starring Gerard Butler. Really, has he made anything worth watching? What's that movie where he dies but still makes his wife do his bidding? PS I Hate This Movie?
Gabe already did a pretty wonderful post about the Blind Side... http://videogum.com/156521/the-blind-side-and-ninja-assassin-a-side-by-side-comparison/dvd/
I laughed really hard when the lead Snatcher said "Don't just 'ang about! Snatch 'em!"
I mean you wouldn't want anyone to forget why you're called Snatchers.
