I'm so ashamed of myself for reading all those emails at TMZ just now. So ashamed. It goes against everything that Jack White stands for. And I really like Jack White. I hope they can work everything out like adults and settle things in a respectable fashion. I feel for the kids...
How can I add this whole set to my playlist on Spotify? Does Stereogum have a profile or something so I can follow?
Stereogum totally needs to disable the Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down feature.
I would love to walk the beach at about 7am to this song with my earbuds in. God, that would be fucking amazing.
Probably the most educational, yet oddly disturbing video I've witnessed all year. I'm going to have to check her out!
I guess it doesn't take much for you to be blown away. Everything you named is mediocre at best.
This is the most intelligent, thorough comment here.
Yeah, it's one of the coolest choruses I've ever heard. Just that alone totally transports me to another space and time.
"Home Again" is a pretty amazing song, as is "Astronaut"
1. Gila 2. Turtle Island 3. Silver Soul 4. Myth 5. Lover of Mine 6. Apple Orchard 7. You Came to Me 8. On the Sea 9. Master of None 10. Heart of Chambers
WHAT?! No "Lover of Mine"? I'm sorry, Stereogum, but you kind of screwed this one up pretty bad.
I'll always say that "Little Digger", "Firewalker", and "Friend Of Mine" are GREAT songs off of this album and they really showcase her talent as a pop songwriter.
Liz Phair is an amazing songwriter and (in my opinion) an even more amazing guitarist. "Whip-Smart" is one of the most original albums I own. It's like a mini-movie, in a way.
Can we add "Jonathan" to the list just because I really like that song?
Sad to hear about a brilliant man dying...
"....he not only has to deal with the successes that such a position entails, but also the unending criticism, paparazzi, expectations, and industry coercion..." ALL of which he could walk away from today, while still creating music. Sorry, but I don't empathize with Kayne. I think he' full of shit and I don't respect him. He's got some cool songs and even some great songs, but I'm not buying this "I'm not for sale" bullshit. It's utter bullshit. And anyway, it's been done before by BETTER artists. It's only new to his fanbase who think "omg Kanye's totally going against the media"...No, he isn't. Kayne totally supports the media. 110%.
I'm sure Beyonce totally ass-raped all the soul from this song. Winehouse didn't respect her kind anyway.
Thanks for sharing this...will read later
Really, I don't see anything wrong with this poem. It's just a very plainly written, quiet, observational poem about a disaster that happened here in America. Amanda Palmer happened to write it. Big deal.
Fucking tired of Tegan and Sarah.
You're joking, right?
Dude, 5 years is nothing. Grow up.
Youtube search "My Alcoholic Friends" the Jools Holland performance...pretty cool to see/hear
A nice summer track and I like it. Sounds like Kelis! Probably won't hear anything else like it this year...
Clearly influenced by Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time". I like the approach to this song, but I can't get with the way the singer sings. I like the tone of her voice, but I just can't get with it. Still gonna check out their album though, they look promising.
I don't care how many down votes I get because I'm still going to voice my opinion. With that said, this song is totally boring, played out funk-rock. Not a bad song, just fucking boring.
Though you've made numerous grammatical errors, I still agree with you. I don't care how many down votes I get for saying what I'm about to say (I'm expecting plenty of down votes)...people are just angry at the fact that Margaret Thatcher was a woman in politics who got away with as much as she did for so long. That is all.
Boring?? This was really cool! You guys are lame...
Sorry, but I stand behind The Black Keys 100%...they're just real.
