Ethan Hawke totally cancels out the dumbness of that Sinister trailer. And I really like Queen of Versailles, but what are our feelings supposed to be towards that family? Pity? Schadenfreude? Evil cackle?
This is just a sad, riveting, mildly funny, but alltogether terrifying story or as they called these in the biz, An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn
Have you seen the trailer for I Am Not A Hipster? It's like an Onion video, showing a bunch of very hipstery stuff and then revealing the title at the end in big block letters. Hah! Gotcha! Comedy!

Well, there goes Erie County's +1 food/square bonus, along with the food stocks. Maybe they'll build barracks instead. Or who knows, maybe it was rendered obsolete by the Great Pyramid in Ohio.
I know dialogue should be secondary in a trailer, but damn, Bruce Wayne has a single line in it? "What does that mean?" Also, "a storm is coming"? That's just the Corny McCorny of lines. It's corny even video games stopped using it.
And I'm not bothered by Bane so much, but the whole Occupy Whatever The Hell Is Gotham's Equivalent Of Wall Street vibe is just blah.
Howard Hawks said a great film has at least three perfect scenes and no bad ones.
An incomplete list of perfect scenes in Point Break:
- footchase ending with Johnny Utah emptying his clip in the air
- Johnny Utah jumping out a plane without a parachute, catching Bodie on the way down and having a stand-off with a gun while having a conversation
- anything with Gary Busey
the point is, Hawks would have "emptied his clip in the air" after watching this film. It should not be underestimated.
