I haven't commented in a million years, but I was there before Videogum was like a thing (ugh...I'm a f----ing hipster). So I've been reading your stuff for like YEARS and I want to tell you: You are great, Gabe. And I will follow you where ever you go on the internet. You are funny, but you are also thoughtful and I like what you have to say. And your obsession with Hugh Jackman peeing his pants will never not be funny to me. And you even made me cry that one time you wrote about Bert & Ernie getting a divorce. Like others have said, I have made real life friends with the Monsters and they are all awesome people, and you are the common thread that bonds us together! Good luck with whatever you're doing next. I will be there!
Jeez, what's next? Is Ira Glass going to issue a retraction saying that Gabe is not, in fact, an asshole?
The whole Oreo cookie story was long ago proven to be an urban legend of some sort, and yet she keeps perpetuating the lie: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2005-11-15/news/0511150358_1_oreo-cookies-ehrlich-steele Too many lies to count! I'm going to take a nap now.
For serious. Also, How to Make It in America? Never heard of this show. Was the first season about how they were all born to upper middle class white parents?
The man who wrote this (Bert, naturally) know what it's like to have a broken heart. I didn't cry when I read it or anything...I just had something in my heart. EYE. I mean my eye.
Argyle this week. I wonder which socks they'll wear next week?! I can't wait!
Ahhh!! The Robert Pattinson cross-stitch pattern! I had this on my fridge for a while. You know - ironically. Because I haven't read all of the Twilight books and seen all of the movies or anything.
I don't think I would characterize it as a "joke" either. RE has been very vocal about his own struggles with alcohol, and in that context, I didn't read it as a joke.
I totally get your disappointment. I was disappointed too; however, I feel like the whole hot wheels star art student thing redeems the movie JUST ENOUGH to take it out of the running for WMOAT.
Everyone is a monster deep in their hearts. And you should definitely wear that shirt.
Monster Party Chicago had cake. CAKE! It was awesome. We didn't even miss Patrick M or any of the other Chicago monsters who defected to the NYC party. That's how delicious the cake was.
You just dissed on Anthony Weiner, but your screen name is "unionman." I'm so conflicted...
I second this. Also, the ads on this site are kind of out of control. They even prevent me from logging in sometimes (which I have contacted your it people about, but it doesn't really seem to be resolved). It forced me to do something which I probably should have done anyway, which is to use Privoxy to block ads in my web browser. However, I'm just staying, it's overkill, and I'm not seeing the ads you want presumably want me to see because I have to block them for this website to function correctly.
I will be there! I will truly miss the whole thing that happened last year where each monster showed up at the bar, sheepishly sidled up to our table and said, "Um, M-m-monsters???"
Or maybe no one likes you because you stole my identity.
Hey Starlee! I listened to your TAL story about break-ups and Phil Collins after my now-ex boyfriend dumped me hard core. It totally helped. Thanks!!!
Aren't firefighters supposed to be kind of waiting around doing nothing while they wait for a fire to break out somewhere? I mean, I'm sure they don't just do NOTHING nothing, but they can't be doing anything that can't be dropped immediately to go fight a fire. I don't have a problem with throwing a little dancing into the mix and building camaraderie.
Nooo!! I'm so sad. Regulate In Peace, Nate Dogg...
As someone who has the mildly embarrassing hobby of reading lots of books about murderers, watches hours upon hours of Bill Kurtis shows, and owns bootleg copies of old episodes of "Unsolved Mysteries," I can understand the impulse to post these videos. I get why you guys don't want to see it. I really do. If I was a guest blogger, I would personally not post this. But what I'm saying is, I'm with you, Soft Gabe. I'm not going to watch this, because I'm pretty sure I've already seen this interview several times.
