All I know is that if Brock ends up just having swine flu, I'm going to be forced to switch to team Weiner.
That said, it's hard to ignore the fact that big guy would need to have Ricky Jay skill to take one cig (and the right cig) out of a carton without taking the carton.
They made a BIG deal out of the pat down and it lasted forever, so I'd put my money on it getting out of his pack that way. Whoever got the big guy to do it would have had to move ridiculously fast though and be A-OK with child death because in reality, Brock shouldn't be able to survive any Ricin poisoning unless it was very tiny amount. The case for it being Gus is that he'd be able to give Brock the most care due to his board position and further convince Jessie he's on his side without killing the kid (but if the kid died, oh well he's done kid killing before). But that's some complex long conning that relies on Brock being taken to that hospital, Jessie believing Walt would kill a child and all done within hours.
Walt's tragedy laugh didn't seem to be there to set up Walt as a great evil faker. It was there when he knew he couldn't buy his way out of this so I'm assuming his reaction to Jesse's accusation was true. But, I would love it if the writers somehow made it so they could kill off Walt in a way everyone could get behind.
We've all mostly forgotten that stolen Nazi riches was/is hidden there by protection of the govt but every time this bastard pops up we're reminded why we should hate this country. It's really in their interest to get rid of this P.O.S.
That Martin paragraph was interesting, sci-fi fans do tend to be obsessive about their genre. In that case, I wish authors can weed out that sort of things instead of writing it for the fans' expectations. On the other hand, LOST needed to listen to it fans just a little because it did absolutely nothing to complete many of the aspects of the stories and characters. It was shit. Also, AMC's The Killing writers knew who the killer was before they filmed since it's a remake (though, since they never gave that ending to American audiences perhaps they completely ignored the original and decided to LOST it, which would be terrible).
I want to point out that Santorum is not currently a Senator. This is important. It is important that Santorum not be a Senator. PS. Whatever protocol we have for calling a former President 'President' until they die, we should not extend that to Congress which, having a high number, are way more likely to have pieces of insane shit like Santorum on the rolls that we should agree to forget was ever in power.
So far this season has not involved the protagonist in any of the plot moving action, such a great strategy because the anxiety over this season is not over despite this amazing cartel resolution. Though the slow build with Walt's uselessness was difficult to go through. What are they going to do with him now that he's such a jerk and nobody likes him including his foster meth son Jesse? I like that I can't predict any of it.
And I'm not sure why they would kill him at this point anyway. Gus preventing him from drinking the poison is pretty much the end of the 'was mike going to kill jesse?' mystery.
I have a hard time imagining any of them flipping over a golf cart or taking the time to actually do any of this. Is it really a prank if you're a millionaire who pays PA's to do crap to the other millionaires? Or is it kind of creepy rich people games?
I did like that part, especially when dumb but well-meaning Jason asked about when they 'played dress up' because that's probably the most honest and not over the top portrayal of that character this show has ever put forth. But then the CGI scene happened, Lafayette acted like he was completely fine and understood everything immediately, and Meat Cat flies away on his skateboard. BOOOOO
To be fair, the confused look she pulls for all emotions might have made him think she was unapproachable. To be realistic, she's probably fucking awful.
Every episode from now on should be Skyler, and eventually Jesse, tearing Walter's ego down. Great ep.
Bailee was on Jay Leno last week and I was at a bar that had a tv tuned into it. There was no sound but the captions were on and it was enough to understand that she was 'child actor' perfectly exemplified. She spent 5 minutes telling a boring story about going to Australia with the most exaggerated 'I'm like a little adult' motions. You could tell her and her mother (and God) spent a lot of time rehearsing this story. All the best to her, hope she comes out human. Let's also remove Chloe from her company, they're clearly different types of child actors. One being God filled, the other being in Best Coast videos.
Walt has been nothing but a holier-than-thou asshole to anyone he feels safe bossing around. That is, his wife and Jesse. Every episode this season, it's been million questions Walt assuming he should know every detail of someone else's life and pursues it in a really aggressive way. When he's got no questions for you, he's got judgments. He tried to pull it with Mike and Gus and failed miserably. He's basically only king when it comes to the weak. Which gets boring. So he crossed into a new territory and sparked (I hope) his downfall with the Hank scene. Unfortunately, he's going to bring down the people below him unless his they finally break away from him. Jesse may join forces with Gus completely and Mrs. Bullock may get back to not trusting him, there's no reason to at this point.
I see we're still going with the 'ride motorcycle with the impossibly large inefficient wheel like you're about to get done doggy style'.
I do understand characterization, and I like it more than action honestly, but nothing makes me angrier with this series than the infinite examples of Walt being a supreme dick to everyone for no good reason. Jesse, Mrs. Bullock..you've proven many times that you don't have a handle on your life but you're still allowed to boss her ass over how she handles a phone call about business you wanted nothing to do with since the beginning? Move on, BB or make him change.
I feel like the major characters, besides HANK!, are just doing the same thing they did when they were in similar situations. Jesse checks out and can't deal with being alone, Walt makes the dumbest decisions while remaining an annoying asshole to those around him. I did appreciate the Ellsworth wisdom. He also gave the same 'none of my business' speech to Trixie when she got a gun for defense. But he ended it better that time: 'And fuck us all anyway for the limber-dicked cocksuckers we are'.
I know I'm probably going to be downvoted but facetaco's opinions is completely full of shit. If she had sex with consent with others for money, why the fuck does that reduce her credibility? What if she smoked marijuana? Or had a shitton of parking tickets? I don't believe for a second anyone who says the illegality of her past as a sex worker isn't about judgment against someone who had chosen to use her body for whatever she wants.
I like this. Especially after reading this: http://www.thedaily.com/page/2011/06/22/062211-gossip-ryan-dunn-1-2/ Rather than get crazy angry at a guy for tweeting about the circumstances of your friend's death, change your life? Grief is a helluva drug and I hope Margera and his ilk wake up to the realities of what killed his best friend after they've vented, even if it is misguided. Ebert's saying he could still be here, and he's not because he was a jackass.
Even if he didn't mean 'jackass' as a referral to the show, which I think he's lying about, I think it's definitely OK labeling him 'jackass' for driving that fast at night on a road shared by the public. Instead of lying and giving disingenuous apologies, I wish he would've stuck by the sane argument that Ryan Dunn and his friend would still be here if he didn't do a massively jackass thing. He certainly could've come across less flippant about it right after the accident but Ebert lives on Twitter, I don't think he meant it in a flippant way.
YES. There is a clear frontrunner for Best Snob Accent.
Heads up GMLI producers, I can't find a streaming copy of Eps. 3 and 4 that works.
I love CK, but this is pretty bad. It's almost a stereotype now that comedians, high profile and the locals that perform at the cafe down the street, believe themselves to be some upper-level class of people looking down at the plebians who don't understand a joke when it somehow doesn't go over well. And not just jokes, but the answers to life and everything philosophical as if they were the licensed sharp-tongued jesters of yore. Some of the most uncomfortable moments in my life involved being in an audience that collectively didn't laugh at a joke, severely offending the comedian to the point that he or she felt the need to sharply rebuke the audience for one reason or another. It's pretty fascinating the sense of privilege that sometimes come out of comedians. I don't have to laugh with you and I don't have to give you immunity for some lame-brain behavior. I can forgive though, and Tracy Morgan is actually doing a lot to learn about why he chose those targets. Why CK then had to step up and deny the importance of all this is puzzling. There's no way in hell I believe CK actually thought that gay hate was 'hilarious' so I'm left thinking it's just that reliable comedian self-importance.
That fake crying is the worst, near baby screaming while its mother ignores it and nails on a chalkboard.
I'm pretty sure all the pert little feminists I knew in college didn't believe the etymology of 'history' was actually 'the male story'. Most of them knew more about etymology and actual history than the average person who rolled their eyes whenever they used 'herstory' to empower their awakening or whatever. It's odd that this is a point of contention for anyone.
Have we discussed Gabe's large ass hands?
Gonna agree with Fozzy here. After laughing hard at everyone's comments, per usual you guys are great, I got a little concerned that it really was more what Gabe had suggested..that we're going ahead and projecting some seriously messed up schema on her simple description. I dislike Paltrow so damn much but aside from the continued obliviousness to her privilege by having an expert ANYTHING, the Latino or Spanish (all we know is his name is Hispanic) groundskeeper working for less than minimum wage for someone taking advantage clearly doesn't apply here and reduces one of the few humans Paltrow actually pays some kind of tribute to. Not saying we can't have fun with such a horrible character as her, but we need to be called out too sometimes.
At the end of the day, I'm still hot in a city that ain't. Can I put you down for 5,000 swords? What about thy wife?
They already disembodied heads and arms for you, van creepers. Seriously, what's with all the white?
Reading all this was incredible. I had no experience being bullied or bullying and didn't see it (notice it really, I'm sure it was happening around me) so it's astounding to me that kids get away with this crap. Everything I did; poor grades, poor posture, poor behavior GOT CALLED OUT. It was a tough childhood, being yelled at by teachers for something as simple as tracking a little mud in from outside or chewing gum but once you're afraid of being embarrassed in front of your entire class you avoid being a shitty person in any way like the plague. I didn't take out the stress on anything else, I wasn't scarred by strict rules and strict consequences. I fully support hurting little shits' feelings once in a while if they get out of hand. A person in this thread said her mother went in to yell at the kid at it worked. DO THIS, ADULTS. Trust me, kids are afraid of you. Shame the hell out of them, threaten their reputation, alpha-dog them in front of everyone. They're tiny, teachers and parents are not..this should not be happening. There's a good compromise somewhere of old school screaming at your kid for not saying 'yes, sir' and respecting your kid's individuality and space by not caring what they're doing to their peers.
I don't get it. That slight theoretical .1% gets you riled up enough to criticize Apple in comparison to PC makers in a way that even defends PC makers?
I was also in disbelief over the time people got to places. In addition to magic feet Viedler, how did those tiny-legged skinheads outrun Bana in those massive skull crushing boots?
Oh and I loved the editing. The music was a bit too much, but I guess that's necessary when you pay The Chemical Bros to do it.
Missed the mark in the action genre but I enjoyed the scenes where she discovers being a kid and thought that could've been fleshed out more (though that leaves room for a sequel). So could've Bana's adventure trying to meet her and Blanchett's backstory as to why she was weirdly evil and had a strange issue with kids. The reveal was swept under the rug though and I didn't understand that, lots of Bourne-like potential. But we've got too much dumb action in the theaters, in fact one of the previews for Hanna was about Shakespeare that was ACTION PACKED.
Not bothering to watch because the original was good and in a way that relied heavily on the setting and culture of Sweden. A straight translation, which seems is the case here, would just seem cheap and a bit off..essentially an 'our people are too spoiled to watch a well written series because it requires subtitles' remake. All the things coming across weird in the comments not only work in the original, but are important to the 3 main plot lines (for me anyway, the grieving couple was particularly compelling). American TV also isn't nearly as slow as the original pacing, I imagine they've shortened it up a bit.
'Full minutes with offending someone on earth'? What the hell? If there's a 60/40 no racist/totally racist split or more it's not only alright but worth defending in 4 paragraphs?
Ugh, spoilsport here. You can't really stop-action something so historically animated with limited movement Legos and Playmobiles. I rarely complain about the things people do and enjoy but this was boring as hell.
The contest is over. Great review and it barely scratched the surface, no need really to go into the murky depths of terrible this movie presents. But the worst thing that happened in this movie actually happened with Eat, then Pray, then Love. When she arrived in a foreign country, knowing no one, she was immediately aggressively pursued by another person who for no reason whatsoever went far beyond what normal humans do for other humans who don't need help. No, a pretty lady in a crowded cafe in Italy doesn't see you and think 'I'm going to help this lady buy coffee and then buy jeans, and then introduce her to every amazing person I know in this country'. An old man in an ashram doesn't stalk you with the goal of helping you get over how awful you are when he knows nothing about you. A hot man doesn't want to spend his life, which he cuts in half to fit in your NY life, with you after running you over and spending some nights with your emotionally absent and eventually tantrum-prone ass. Fuck you, Gilbert. This of course is an assumption, I am not a rich white lady and it wouldn't surprise me if the world works for them like this. If that's the case, fuck you world.
I can't express how satisfied I am that 'Eat, Pray, Love' is being reviewed next, cutting in front of a large chunk of history's worst because calm down past bad movies, THIS MOVIE IS SOO SOOO SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH WORSE THAN YOU ARE.
