Way to give cred to this attention whore who hasn't wrote a song in his life(ask the dozens of session musicians who have played on every album). Also prerecorded tracks is how he rolls live. Reznor needs to own up to unleashing this doucher to the general public.
What's annoying is all the Kool-Aid this site & it's writers(& Pitchfork) drink about how great Kanye is and it's simply not true. You're paid to say this sh*t and some people can think for themselves. You seem to forget that his last album was the Mortdecai of the music world last year. Let us know when he has an album that's number 1 for half a year straight. He's not Prince. He'll never be Prince even among his peers.
Cantrell was on the tale end of this era. He was the one who made them into what they were. People always think Layne was the mastermind behind everything. Obviously he wasn't if you listen to the last 2 AIC albums which are better than anything their peers have put out in years.
What gets me is all the trolls Brian Warner has waiting to defend his moronic ass all across the internets. I knew 2 people who went to high school with him and they attest he never had an original thought in his head his whole life. Session guys on the albums, lip-syncing at concerts, all around doucher. Comparing this album to Billy's peers, it's okay. Better than the last PJ and Soundgarden. Not better than the last STP or even close to the last 2 Alice In Chains releases. Corgan is talented but he also has this weird cult following that think anything he does is brilliant. He's had songs here and there but nothing outstanding since "Siamese Dream". I've seen him and whoever was in his band that week several times and he can play guitar very well. Unfortunately, half the time he's onstage rambling about something and making you sit through 10 ballads in a row. He needs to go back to what made him play music to start with and get his head out of his ass.
One more jab at the U2 album. You guys are so cutting edge with the same bullsh*t list Pitchfork, Paste, & "insert irrelevant website here" has. Will you really give a crap about any of these albums 6 months from now?
The show is very engaging in parts mainly because of what Tom is saying. Grohl talking about the music he grew up on and giving tribute to some of the unsung heroes is great. The songs though are so mediocre. I think the first 2 albums(mainly the debut) are the only essential listening and a song here and there since then.
Hawkins the guy who played with Alanis. Geez. Real rock cred there Heroin Boy. Grohl should have stuck with Goldsmith. I saw that tour twice and he was right up there with Dave. I guess maybe that's why he's gone. And like other have said, the Foos haven't put out a good album since their second release.
The only journalists talking about Swift are the ones being paid for it. Are you contractually obligated to have at least one article a day on her? Let it f*ckin' die. Damn.
More clueless observations from "journalists" who have never actually been around somewhere that actually sells music. Working in retail for a long time and also frequenting other record stores on a regular basis tells me a very different story. Hard rock bands like Slipknot(who I do not like) will always be around and the only reason they didn't sell more copies of their latest is because I don't think their core audience even knew they had anything coming out. They put out a fairly unfriendly lead track that was ignored by the Nickelcrack loving radio corporations. That doesn't mean that word won't get around and just like their catalog, this album will consistently sell for the next 5 or 6 years. I also challenge you to find more than a handful of "pop" acts who are still around after 10 plus years. Having some swedish guy who writes songs for Britney/Katy/Kelly/Beyawnce/ Taylor doesn't count. There are a lot of hard rock acts(Deftones are a great example) who are still on the road and are quietly making a damn good living while all the pop tarts who play no instruments and can't sing/rap without it being prerecorded get all the press. I challenge you to go to a real music store that sells actual CDs this weekend and observe how many times someone comes in and asks the clerk where is the new Slipknot/Five Finger Death Punch. Hell, ask the workers themselves how many times someone comes in and asks.
