A scientist invents a teleporter and falls in love with a reporter covering his work.
Sometimes there's so much booty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is just going to cave in because I'm so scared.
This needs more upvotes. #dirtydancingforever
This makes me want to play Street Fighter II.
If it's not Will Smith or Tyler Perry, I'm out.
When you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I was on the trampoline.
Yes, I was trying to figure out how to say the same thing above, but then I gave up. But THIS! YES! I would go insane over thinking how to edit it to perfection. Also, it'd be so easy to just post "FIRST!" and then stay at the top of the comments while editing it into hopefully something mildly clever. Though I would never do that. I stopped aiming for mildly clever long ago.
Oops, I only strongly disagree with 2. For 3 it's just not a big deal, but it would be easier than having to make the "Oops I accidentally downvoted" reply on the rare occasions it happens. Maybe being able to edit comments would be nice (like now), but I enjoy seeing the reply "edits" almost as much if not moreso at times than the original comments.
I love this idea! I would prefer to see her tackle an older show that is maybe out of her usual genre types, not that I know that they are, or just something fun. My show suggestions in no particular order: Twin Peaks (mentioned earlier) Picket Fences Eerie, Indiana Buck Rogers MASH (but that might take awhile...) The Prisoner Fresh Prince of Bel Air Blossom
It would be really awesome to have notification of comment replies. I tend to post at odd times because I am across the Atlantic. Sometimes I go ahead and post on old things anyway even if I know it will be largely unseen, but there are times when that is frustrating because I feel I have relevant things to say! Like now! As for 2 and 3, I have to say that I strongly disagree. I am not a downvoter. I have maybe downvoted 1-2 comments in my years here. I also don't upvote everything, and I don't want someone worrying about why X commenter got an upvote and Y commenter didn't. We don't have a downvoting problem here in the first place and I am fine not knowing who upvotes or downvotes me. More than fine, I prefer it. I trust the opinions of this community enough to not need total transparency.
Ok, I am a scifi fan, but I have yet to watch any Doctor Who, which I guess totally strips me of my credentials... But do invest in Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is awful about releasing the dvds in a timely fashion, but I manage to have friends send me helpful things given my horrible internet connection here. So at what season/era should I start watching Doctor Who? I don't know where to begin. :(
They are fine, and actually like a game for me which works well. It's very basic at first. I imagine it takes awhile to get to conversational stuff, but it does help with pronunciation and basic sentence structure. I feel like the best stuff I know for day to day life is from tv and little travel books that cover a wide variety of situations (Berlitz books are great). However, it doesn't mean I truly grasp the language. I just have a decent vocabulary, and I smile and point a lot. I mostly abandoned Rosetta Stone when I realized that adjectives are conjugated in german, not just verbs. So it's the language, not the system, but I am about to try again now that I decided to renew my contract for another year. I should just take a class here, but they are 2-3hrs 1-3 times a day after getting off work, and I am just too old for that now. I am done with school. Adjectives aren't conjugated in Spanish. :)
Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother are on ALL THE TIME here. Thus, I have heavily invested in DVDs. I am so glad I wasn't caught up on Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Blood, and 30 Rock before I came here. Oh and Veronica Mars after all the comments I read about it on here. German tv is good for helping me learn the language, but I actually learn better from the awful reality shows and commercials than I do from the dubbed american shows. I say this as my Rosetta Stone disks look sadly at me from under a thick layer of dust...
That is the only appropriate response.
I always check in on this post throughout Thursday to catch up on my comrades in time zone pain.
The only english-speaking channels I get here (near Frankfurt) are news channels. Be grateful. Though I did discover on one particularly boring night not too long ago that you really don't need to understand english to follow the plot of Avatar. I do come across Gilmore Girls from time to time in german, which is fine since I've seen them ALL. UGH DEAN.
I might as well tell this story since no one will ever read it. I went to my first and only Braves game because I was so good at being a receptionist at a snooty hair salon back in my teenage years (native ATLien). It had about five people working the phones at any given time in a weird little air traffic control-like glass booth that overlooked the salon. The greeters were downstairs dealing with the people in person, fetching drinks and trying to keep the peace among the customers and stylists. Anyway, some woman desperately calls begging for a color appointment that day, which is just not done, but she seemed nice and she offered to pay a lot so I figured I'd offer it up to any willing colorist who was interested in extra cash. One of the colorists agrees to fit her in. She shows up and finds me somehow because she wanted to give me some Braves tickets she gets through her work to show her gratitude. Her hair didn't look monstrous to me, but whatever makes her happy. I ended up taking a fellow receptionist to the game that night. I guess they were good seats. I don't really know since it's the only baseball game I've ever attended. Excellent story.
Fist bump on the time difference pains.
I am super late to the game, because HWEDT posts always come around when I am sleep thanks to time zone differences... Kelly, please think about us monsters in Europe who want to participate, but have old lady bedtimes.! :( Anyway, I am almost through with Follow Her Home, and it is really great. I had to force myself to stop reading last night because I needed to get up early. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it has been a fun read and I am recommending it to my friends and family. I fell asleep last night trying to figure out how it all ends. I should know in a day or two. I look forward to the next one!
"You might be able to get a lot more out of them by being smart, but you can definitely read them even if you aren’t." There needs to be a library with a room full of pillows that have this sentence embroidered on them.
