i had no idea that guy from TV sitcoms was in Hepcat. "Bobby and Joe" was on one of the warped tour complitations that i had...i loved that shit. excellent song
"In interviews, Walters has sometimes implied that the villainy of his 90210 character probably hurt his music career." i'm sure it has nothing to do with his music being shitty and boring.
Easily one of the best in the game right now.
i really dig this. went backwards into their last album release, nice find on a friday afternoon.
going to see Toad open up for Barenaked Ladies with the Gin Blossoms this summer. so really, i'm going to see Toad and the Gin Blossoms.
i saw Something Corporate on some Drive-Thru records tour with Finch, who i liked a whole lot back in the day. i would say Finch's lyrics might be construed as "problematic" today and the music hasn't aged well. but it was amusing to watch the look of the faces from the preppy power pop crowd to the semi-screamo hot topic stylings of Finch. "I Woke Up In a Car" is a dope song though
with a third Scott, no less!
Saves the Day? are they still together? Something Corporate? pretty sure they aren't a thing anymore.
nobody deserves to be bullied or stuffed into lockers...but Rush Limbaugh? that's grounds for some moderate ribbing
watching that video for Too Easy, left me with one question - has Gunna ever thrown a ball before?
it sounds stupid and cliche to say, but this was a defining song for me. once i hit middle school, I immediately became immersed in rap music. Public Enemy, Black Sheep, Tribe, EPMD, Cube, Pete Rock & CL, those were all part of the everyday playlist. but that was just me and my two dopey friends. When Kris Kross came out, that was for everyone. and it was sort of my moment to show all my other friends who listened to hair bands that rap music was awesome and good. it didn't last, because Axl Rose was still a thing, and grunge was breaking, and i lived in the Connecticut suburbs. But, i can't think of a better time to grow up about 20 minutes outside of New Haven, Conn. which is where the Starter Factory was located of course. i was decked out in that shit constantly, though i never wore my clothes backwards...because despite what they said, backwards was also wiggida wack
"Machine Gun Kelly says he’ll release two albums this year." welp...there goes all hope for 2022. shut it down, see you in January 2023
Imagine my surprise when I clicked on the Jim Carrey tag and found 12 posts?!? And none of them had to do with Vanilla Ice!
not that this has anything to do with this track, which is pretty good, but how great is the Gravediggaz 6 Feet Deep? i listened to that podcast with Open Mike Eagle and Prince Paul, i had no idea that they were working on that album even before 36 Chambers came out
Thrice will always have a spot in my rotation, even if their latest release was kind of assy
Illuminati Hotties and Brockhampton were the same for me. Pool Hopping like Buzzcut were excellent. then i listened to the full albums and i was less interested.
also, RAP Ferreira's "Bob's Son" came out this year? who knew? not me! put that on the list too.
i'm not going to type out my list, because i don't have it organized well enough and nobody gives a shit anyway, but i'd put Madlib's Sound Ancestors on there with Wild Pink, Low, Rosie Tucker, The World is a Beautiful Place, and one that i really enjoyed more than i thought i would is Angel Du$t. and i'd include the Avalanches on there because it came out in December after all the best of lists.
if we do, the Avalanches "We Will Always Love You" definitely tops my list. i wore that thing out going into the spring
for me, i just can't get into Granduciel's voice. something about it, i just want it to be...better
i feel like there is a large contingent of stereogum readers who are going to have to google Kevin Eubanks.
The The Kid Laroi situation is definitely out of control now. I can't take that whiny little pissant
yes, this will do
on top of that, the people in the crowd who create this chaos are also not without culpability. these aren't mindless zombies in the crowd, these are real people who make the choice to push, shove and act crazy without showing concern for their fellow concert goers.
I agree, mostly, as well. however (and i don't know what happened with Travis Scott on stage this night), any performer encouraging the crowd to engage in dangerous behavior does bear some responsibility as well. that being said, while Scott seems to have encouraged moshing and pushing past security in the past, I can't find any account him doing so during this performance.
Steven...because he and i are very formal with each other apparently.
holy shit, i thought that was a picture of Steven Bannon
as someone who listens to Blockhead A LOT (Music by Cavelight remains the best. The Music Scene and Free Sweatpants are great as well) and also Aes (None Shall Pass is still my favorite), i was really looking forward to this one. its fine. a couple tunes caught my ear, but i certainly wasn't blown away on first listen. it might need more time to marinate in my head.
the people behind them. all we can go on is that the story says they were "near the back" of the crowd, and they were pushed over. i've never been to a festival as large as this, but i've been in smaller outdoor festival seating situations, and there are always some shitheads who think its their right to push their way to the front of the crowd with blatant disregard for others and their safety...and for what? to be 100 feet closer to a performer on stage. and now people including two minors are gone forever. these people know who they are, and it makes me sick to know they will never face any consequences.
i can't with the kids, man. what the fuck....just because your stupid ass wanted to get closer to fuckin travis scott a 9 year old is dead. fuck this world
too bad they couldn't use the Robin Sparkles/Daggers character for this show, but that would mean Ted Mosby would have to be involved...and that dude was fucking insufferable.
Brent Hinds, can we get your take?
not really related, but i tried to watch that movie Ordinary World with Billie Joe in the starring role...that was painful, i don't think i made it halfway before shutting it off. still, Green Day remain one of my favorites for everything up through American Idiot. Revolution Radio wasn't bad either
different feel to this track, but i dig it. as an old head, most new hip hop is not for me these days, but Saba is the exception. Bucket List was good, and CARE FOR ME is an absolute gem. can't wait for this new one to come out
maybe throw American Football in there too seeing as this is being hosted at a football stadium...i'm guessing because the Trop is a flaming garbage pile.
