Your thoughts on Iconic Boyz?
Moving-picture-things can be over-used, too. But whatevs. You guys have obviously already had this discussion so it's pointless to have it again! [Oprah .gif here]
I miss everything good.
Fine, I'll ask - what's the VforVgum crew?
Friday Fights were some of my favorite things©
Oh, no doubt. But being new to a new thing is different from being new to an established thing, y'know? I might check it out but if not I'll always have the comments section and the RTs by the few Videogum monsters I follow on Twitter!
I always thought the chat was an invite only thing, which is why I never went? Also, it's super awkward to just be sitting in there watching conversations between people who know each other real well while waiting for your turn to jump in. On the other hand, I feel like getting into chat might make commenting more fun (I'm totally not in on the inside jokes and I don't know people's "personalities"). Other than that, more TV stuff.
I predict Abby Elliott is out (or, I hope she is), making way for Nasim Pedrad to move up to full cast. She's more than earned that spot.
"It's like Braille, but with butts." There should definitely be a Bob's Burgers open thread every week, forever.
Most especially when his wife is pregnant with a daughter? Like, nope, she definitely wouldn't be understanding or sympathetic to that at all.
Mona Lisa Smile is amazing, if only for Ginnifer Goodwin being cast as "the fat girl". Haha, Hollywood! She got the last laugh though, cuz dude she ended up with was hot as eff.
Whoops, meant Green Lantern. Guess the terribleness of whatever it was that Seth Rogen did in that movie is still with me. I CAN'T SHAKE IT.
Just got home from seeing it and I can confirm that this is true. So much fun. It's only downhill from here (sup, Transformers and Green Hornet).
ROSIE'S MOM. Oh boy. That lady. First off, she happens to have one of my least favorite TV/movie tropes - the quirky lower-class woman with the masculine nickname. "Mitch"? Really? You might as well go all the way with it, The Killing, and give us more of that because it's not at all a lazy way to impart uniqueness on a character. What's that? There's also a lady in the show named "Reggie"? OF COURSE there is. Second, if you want me to buy that the mother is solidly working-class, you might want to pick an actress whose face hasn't been injected and stretched six ways to Sunday. I hate saying that because it's so close to bodysnarking and that's not my thing, but . . . she's just so hard to look at sometimes. ANYWAY, I agree that the sound was horrible. I only gathered that "El Diablo" was what the janitor whispered when Linden did that weird screen-fondling thing while rewatching that video.
That's exactly my point (and I think it's Gabe's too, in a roundabout way). Reality TV's NOT being forced on people - the people that tune in are actually *choosing* to do so, and most of them don't have a problem with it as an entity. And because it doesn't cost a lot and people are into it, it's gonna stick around until something more popular / more profitable / of better quality comes along and proves that it can do everything reality TV could, except better. Or it'll just stick around until the fickle public decides it isn't something they want to see any more (example - variety shows).
The thing that bugs me about the whole "Reality TV is the worst thing to happen to society since polio" arguments is that people fail to realize reality shows flourish because people watch the SHIT out of them. ALL of them, regardless of their place in the 'hierarchy' (lol). Like, all the time. If a genre of entertainment wasn't popular or profitable it wouldn't keep getting made. Reality TV brings in tons of viewers for very little overhead. No duh it's gonna to stick around. Degrading reality TV show hosts for taking a job a million other people would've taken if that guy hadn't is silly, and it's not going to improve people's tastes (which is a problematic way to think anyway).
Fuck. My comment seems so much more sarcastic without a .gif. But I really meant it!
"That was some sick weed. I'm totally stoned."
