Correct me if I'm wrong, and please let me be wrong. Appearances in all of the reposted 'best of' lists: Demi Lovato: 1 J Mascis: 0
I honestly cannot fathom how Bon Iver continues to place so highly, I understand that he branched out as an artist and became more than log cabin boy, but lyrically it would have to be the worst album I heard all year. So many other albums were more deserving of praise this year, yet everyone copped out and fell in love with that meaningless bullshit.
Yes, you're right, but remember that this isn't an objective (or even subjective) compilation of the best songs of 2011, but just a song popularity contest. So it's no surprise that the more mainstream indie songs appear on this list, because the "good" obscure bands are less popular than the mainstream bands (!) Similarly, lead tracks and singles will be more popular than "better" album tracks I'll sit here and talk to you all day about how Pure X's Pleasure is by far the greatest release of this year, but for each such fanatic for an obscure band, you could find twenty people willing to argue the same for M83, Bon Iver, Girls and so on. I agree wholeheartedly that this list is an amazing summation of the year, and looking at it in ten years time I could say "oh yeah, that was what made 2011," even though I would only have Wilhelm in my personal top ten.
Sorry. Americans always know more about English than English people.
You misspelt Shabazz Palaces
And The Strokes wouldn't exist if it weren't for The Velvet Underground, that's why Lulu is definitely the best album of the year
your comment has p*ssed off a lot of people at this website, who happen to hate shameless self promotion
But where the fuck is Childish Gambino?!

probably for suggesting that Matt Bellamy is underrated
Cannot wait for Stereogum's end of year list for best and worst comments, aka 'The Celebration of the Genius of djfreshie'
I was chanting The Foo Fighters are gay before it was cool
"3rd, I have no problem with mainstream music" ... you effing lamestreamer
My guess is he's 17-18, just read Hipster Runoff for the first time and thought it was hilarious. Decided all music that isn't Animal Collective sucks, and doesn't realise that everyone went through that month-long phase 3-4 years ago. That is entry level Dylan.
Who is Jonesi? I just want to listen to Rihanna
pleasure is album of the year for me
Given that Halcyon Digest was by far the best album of the past five-ish years (yes), I'm really excited
Nobody cares that you're a fake account, everybody cares that you're not funny or interesting
It's great to see Michael Robenalt cement himself as the number one commenter in Stereogum, although after two strong releases he will have to hold off other top-tier acts like MikeyObviously, djfreshie and Conor Johnson, all of whom have highly anticipated comments expected soon. The wildly uneven Michael_ is struggling to find his niche, while hyped newcomer The Aura of the H-Man will want to deliver on his sophomore effort. Finally, fans continue to wait for the comeback of immensely popular comment pioneer Chris Trash.
this is definately the greatest remix I've ever heard, and should be a contender for song of the year
Thanks Stererogum, now we just need details of Nickelback's new album. And Creed as well.
I'm Australian, but god I hate you.
