i think you guys (stereogum) post these things to read the ridiculous reader responses. i mean, just read those shits. Imagine putting a cool anniversary post together that is comprised of the most ludicrous responses (something to do with penis, blows, indie rock conspiracy theories), the most repeated statement (probably something along the lines of 'anco, veck, bitte orca, hype and downvote',) and strings of fights over whether opinions are valid or bullshit (everyone knows opinions are bullshit.) do that shit
pitchfork did hype him, but barely as much as a lot of other (less well known) sites--those things filter to pitchfork, and then they listen, and blah blah blah best new music. and it is good, fun, catchy garage pop. stereogum should do a special on Wolf Eyes and see how people react. I'm guessing at least 300 comments on how it "isn't music WTF cmon imean where are the proper scale progressions?????"
oho thank you stereobloggers, i have been waiting for heartland for quite awhile! too bad "before the end of the year" is kind of ambiguous.
this is incredibly good. GGD should probably remix the whole thing?
aw man, bonnie prince billy has more comments than an excellent deerhunter song. thats too bad.
I doubt she thinks it to be depressing. Surprisingly, other parts of the world don't rely on flash-cook ovens as much as western peoples. case in point; people happy without a GE stove:
really fucking good. a welcome shit from Random Spirit Lover, though also different from Shut Up I am Dreaming. i'm pretty excited for the inevitable leak
Shogun Kunitoki's '09 album is one of the best i've heard this year, hands down, no exaggeration. i propose a special on Fonal Records alone.
it also has the most enthralling album cover i've seen. I spent a week in the desert in palm tree groves trying to get some shots like it.
the keyboard and horns are the only redeemers. i agree with removing bono, or at least have his voice quiet, droning and lo-fi. commence downvoting please.
i fucking love titus andronicus, and can't wait to see them in DC.
i suggest going to the collected animals message board if you want to see people who like animal collective. perhaps you don't like it because they're starting to break out of the indie-snob world and are selling well? UH OH, TIME TO BACK OUT, MORE THAN 3000 PEOPLE LIKE THEM, TOTES NOT COOL N E MORE LAWL. In may, Grizzly Bear won't be cool to like anymore, and shit, Fleet Foxes are fucked with all of their publicity. Dan Deacon is so two years ago, and don't even bring up Modest Mouse, the Decemberists, the Unicorns, Ugly Casanova, M83, Bon Iver, Beirut, Joanna Newsom, Broken Social Scene, or Neutral Milk Hotel--if you like any of them, you're probably not cool enough to live in 2009, and should hurry up and start collecting old Joni Mitchell records. But don't worry, Xiu Xiu is still alright to like until next year.
fuck buttons please!!! thank you kindly. they really are an eccentric bunch, and I dig it. Bands that preach pure analog make me feel guilty--most music I listen to certainly has a great deal of computerized/sampled components. and he's right on about the niches!
really good, i hadn't heard about them prior to this. gypsy pop is definitely a good descriptor for these suckers!
video black dice, if they do a set, march 24? please
Valid reasoning. Hopefully Coyne's ego has been sufficiently stroked after Win's praise. on an aside, i don't think him being a big music name justifies his condemnation of all of these artists, AKA, shut the fuck up and make a record
what an adorable, sensitive, hunk! and she has the cutest bangs! it probably won't be nearly as good as the Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Anniston Breakup movie.
