This is pitiful writing. "Drums are battered and bruised?" "Voices are triumphantly bleary?" "Clumsy and completely brilliant?" "... willing a band into existence around her?" Not only is it weak and purple and painfully abstract, but even giving the benefit of the doubt the writer is doing their best to make some sort of point, none of these things are even really close to describing the song, which is just fine. The song is just fine. It's a fine poppy garage rock song played a billion times times for 75 years. This is the writing of someone who has no command of their art form, and no understanding of the art form their writing about.
Jesus H. where does the "evaluation" part start? It's fine to reference the backstory for some context, but give me a break with an in-depth analysis of the band's history. Do you even know what you're trying to do here?
