oh man. i am a monster. i do like to watch The Grey when it snows....nothing like a methodical and haunting tale of the persistence and inescapable nature of death.
also, Grumpy Old Men for pretty much the same reasons.
i'm thinking of finally watching Only God Forgives and The Road, even though i hear mixed things about both and they're completely inappropriate for the holidays.
the spiciness of their "Sriracha sauce" is an abomination and insult to actual Sriracha. i had them give me a double dose on the chicken melt and i hardly cried at all.
my favorite things (that aren't monster things, but just like things in the movie that are great):
1.) kurt russel not wanting to fly to the Norwegian camp the first time because the weather's a little iffy. but then when they see the Norwegian excavation site on the video tape, the weather is even worse out but he's just like 'fuck it, i'm going up.'
2.) wilfred brimley's delivery of "i'll keeeeel youuu".
3.) the stoner guy's delivery of "you gotta be fuckin kiddin."
4.) how comical it is when the Norwegian guy drops the grenade the first time you watch it. but then buy the end you realize the amount of ungodly shit that dude went through to get to that point and that grenade slipping out of his hand is the most tragic thing in the movie (beside the poor dogs!)
5.) everything else.
I am so thrilled and terrified that The Thing made it you guys! Kurt Russel with a beard! Wilford Brimley without a mustache! The best performance by a dog ever! I hope Kelly likes it. What if Kelly doesn't like it?! Suddenly Halloween became so much more stressful.
And cabin in the woods is indeed great. I wish Fran Kranz were in more things. His name is just so fun to say.
