congrads to Jenny. now i'm super bummed that she wasn't there the night i went to Big Terrific...but that's an incredibly selfish viewpoint at a time like this. :)
you should watch it. it really holds up for a lot of reasons. it's the kind of movie that you WON'T see on TBS, TNT, or whatever because the subject matter is still(20 years later) too much for the "average" viewer. having said that... i'm with you on the remake shit.
if anyone ever deserved ice cream cake, it was Ted Kennedy. i hope his passing can rally the health care initiative...whatever form it ends up taking. RIP.
i know i haven't been saying much. sorry monsters. work has been kicking my ass lately. i usually do my reading when the conversation has died down (evenings and weekends) so i don't bother posting. but feel free to follow me. mostly my blog posts show up, though. i will be follow some of yous.
@practicallyinfo
ice cream and cake and cake. ice cream and cake and cake. ICE CREAM AND CAKE DO THE ICE CREAM AND CAKE. ICE CREAM AND CAKE DO THE ICE CREAM AND CAKE. and pizza.
i loved it. snappy dialog, nice quick start into the story. interesting character possibilities. great cast. i didn't realize John Oliver was in it...
seriously snappy dialog and well written. you monsters should watch it.
i'm gonna give you all the points for the Toni Ferrari reference. and also hire you to cast my new movie(s). and buy you an ice cream cake (with dancing dinosaurs on top).
i remember watching VD Island....cough.....er....Hotel Paradise and my roommate saying "Isn't that the crazy bitch from 'Love Cruise'?" and it was and we laughed. a lot. Hotel Paradise was about where i stopped watching reality TV, btw. there were no rules as far as i can remember. just put out or get out, basically.
too much to process. too much funny. probably my favorite Videogum find ever.
"the Human Cannonball. CHECK THIS OUT. this guy is gonna shoot himself out of a cannon THREE TIMES A DAY all weekend long. amazing." - the hardest working Cannonball in the Biz...
"the comedy tent for your laugh or HECKLING pleasure." - don't get the jokes? RUIN IT FOR OTHERS!
"there's a whole slew of good shit going on...Circus Food...all dat" - this should be their tagline.
i could do this all night. excellent work Gabe.
i've been thinking about it all day. (not really, i have a job that requires thought. but i have thought about it fleetingly today) i will probably boycott the show if the actors aren't back. i hope the numerous posters are correct about it being a power play of some sort. sorry about the lack of JOKEZ in this post.
i disagree. american dad has a political bent. american dad has a family that doesn't consist of a baby, a dumb middle brother and an older sister. admittedly, there's a talking alien (ie brian, i suppose) but it makes sense in the context of the show (at least to me) and provides a genuine protagonist who can be recycled because he's part of the family. i actually like American Dad more than Family Guy. i know i'm gonna get blasted for saying that, but Seth MacFarland is a co-producer on that show and you can tell a difference. the comedy structure is completely different and the characters have actual motivations to drive their stories. it really is a different beast. i will be the first to admit that American Dad is hit or miss...but 50% goodness (roughly) is better than nothing (ie: CSI).
this Cleveland thing is a straight up carbon-copy.
i watched the pilot earlier this week. it's SHOCKING how similar it is to FG. and is it weird to say that a cartoon character lacks the charisma to carry a cast? weird or not, Cleveland doesn't have it. i guess it's like this: take all the characters and settings of FG, copy them, and water them down about 40% and you've got The Cleveland Show. i guess that's why it got the greenlight for THIRTY SIX EPISODES. because network programming executives are mostly sheep.
Judy Tenuta as She-Ra, Princess of Power!
my only criticism is that the dance sequence needed more close-ups of the man in the white suit. i kept worrying that he wasn't watching anymore...
my point was that generally things go in progressive political waves. one side pursues it's agenda, then the other side pursues it's agenda, and generally things get done that reasonably reflects what society wants. don't be scared...it's the nature of politics/nations.
