lol. Seriously. What exactly are they playing with? That people will genuinely feel bad for you and support you if something awful happens to you, and that other people will be interested in seeing people have sex on the internet? GREAT PROJECT. GENIUS.
From their statement: "Even within the fictional narrative we created, there was no violence or exploitation. " lol. In your VERY OWN initial post: "We hope you understand that this is not a delicious scandal. This is an exploitation." Just so much stupid here. I can't even process it all. And I hate, HATE, political correctness and SJW internet stuff, but man, this is so tone deaf on so many levels.
For reals. They're about the only one that can say that.
Really, really gross and shitty as many others have and will continue to say. The most baffling part is how on earth they could have conceived this idea and thought it could have gone even remotely well. Shocking lack of foresight and self-awareness. This should be in a master class on how to completely betray the trust of your entire fanbase and spoil any public goodwill in 24 hours.
Zzzzz. I know it's blasphemy to speak ill of the Chance hype train on the bloggernet, but this is another new Chance release that I'm just not feeling. This whole church band thing just isn't for me. And that poor Jamila Woods does not sound good at all on this. I guess I'll go listen to Acid Rap again. Angels is dope though.
Is this one of those California tourism videos? Solid jam though. And hey Ron Funches!
I thought TKOL was a huge dud, and probably their worst album, but Lotus Flower was dope and remains dope.
LLLYYYYY MISERABLE (admission: I always enjoyed that low hanging fruit of a chorus).
This sounds like someone hacked my Packard Bell's hard-drive from when I was in high school.
Whoa. I always knew Azealia Banks was bad, but I had no idea she was "get completely owned by Sarah Palin on twitter" bad. Yikes. Might want to hang 'em up there 'Zalia.
Still a great voice, but an absolute dud of a song. Dentist office music.
Nothing from the hyperbolic and predictable Salon echo chamber is a must read. "The absolute worst?" Hot take Salon.
Weird. I have a completely different feeling. What started with a somewhat lukewarm liking of BOH with Everything All the Time, with every repeated listen that album slowly climbed into an all-time favorite of mine. I'll revisit a few times a year randomly, and each time I'm just reminded and blown away by how much I love it. Every song and every moment of it. It's almost a perfect album to me. In fact I was just listening to it last week.
I absolutely like Infinite Arms. Some great tunes on that bad boy, and I love the density of it. It's not Everything All the Time (nothing is), but it's good. As to this article's news: YAY. Sounds awesome.
Yeah you should do that post haste.
A handful of listens in, and I'm enjoying the album, but it is a little too much "Smoke Ring for My Halo" for me when I was hoping for more "Wakin on a Pretty Daze." That's not to say in terms of tempo or guitar-jamminess, but just in how many songs on this album seem like the unfinished kind of guitar noodling songs from early Kurt Vile stuff. I like that stuff, but I've heard it before, and was hoping for more growth, similar to the huge step forward that was present on the last album (which is an all time favorite of mine. Just so good). Pretty Pimpin' is a sign of that, and is one of my favorite songs of his to date, but I think it is the clear high point of this album. That's not to say I don't like the new album. I do. I love everything KV produces, but it is a bit disappointing. It's a bit uneven and has a lot of retread, and given how long it has been between records, I was hoping for a bit more.
Video for Wesley's Theory with a new verse by Cube? YESSSSSS.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be offended at exactly, but omg so offended.
omg, me three. The most Beirut-y song title ever.
1) Streisand Effect in full effect with the Today show cutting off Monae's civil rights speech. Doesn't anyone ever learn? 2) Maybe don't plan to make a civil rights speech on the motherflippin' Today show? Kind of like, what do you expect? Next up, I'm going to self-immolate during the Wheel of Fortune bonus round.
Every time I force myself to listen to a new LDR track, I not only don't understand why some people enjoy it, but why people apparently have a fiercely loyal love of it. Don't we have plenty of other good music out there? This is not good.
Finally! I've been coming to Stereogum for years to get my Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige news and HERE IT IS.
Finally! Been waiting for a taste of the new album for months and this does not disappoint. Sounds just like Kurt, but fresh. So excited. Yeeeeeeeah.
So we're still pretending that this is a good band are we?
I legitimately can't tell one Best Coast song and video from the other. She remains pretty though.
How exactly is Miguel making R&B that doesn't get radio play? I love the song, but Coffee is about the most radio friendly, mainstream piece of pop perfection you could create. Same goes for Hollywood Dreams. Miguel's stuff is a lot more straightforward and radio-friendly than Frank Ocean's, which isn't necessarily always a bad thing, but I think ultimately it is a reflection of what separates the two for music fans who want something more than a catchy single. Miguel: Usually good, but not great. Ocean: Pretty great. And add me to the list isn't on board with the brilliance of Wildheart. The soundcloud EP he released of the 3-songs a few months back are by far the highlights of the album for me. The rest? Meh.
Miguel does not make better music than Frank Ocean. I was perfectly happy enjoying what good music he did make (like 50% of it?) until he had to go and say something silly like this, but that's his prerogative.
Completely agree. Loved Acid Rap, even with it's spottiness and lack of focus, but thus far Surf isn't doing a lot for me after a few listens. Sunday Candy is still far and away the best song on the album imo, and Wanna Be Cool is great, but the rest just kind of blends together. It really does sound like a hip hop record backed by a marching band, and I'm not sure how into that I can get.
Of course you have that right. Go nuts (uh oh, was that insensitive?). lol @ meaningful dialogue. Patting yourself on the back by pointing out every potential insensitivity is about as meaningless in the grand scheme of things as it gets.
Saying "Not to be all X...." does not make you any less X. It's art. Relax.
Holy shitballs is that Feist in the video? Could I love those two ladies anymore? Worlds colliding right there. YES.
