Notley's political party has been doing this sort of thing for a while with "Notley Crue" shirts in this Spring's election and a previous leader's "Raj Against the Machine" shirts in a 2001 election. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/04/20/notley-crue-alberta-ndp-campaign-shirt_n_7102256.html
Isn't his name Win Butler? Short for Edwin...
Here's Damien Rice's cover of it (with When Doves Cry) if anyone needs to get the Miley version out of their head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRjbziecrSo Or well, there's always the original!
I still say Milky Chance-Stolen Dance. It sort of reminds me of Gotye-Somebody That I Used To Know in that it is an indie song that blew up in other parts of the world first and then became mainstream everywhere. Melancholic and so catchy!
Maybe Royal Blood or Catfish and the Bottlemen? They're somewhat "Japandroidish"
If this isn't about "The song that will be played everywhere by everyone else" I'll go with: Future Islands-Seasons St. Vincent-Digital Witness And this year's guilty pleasure summer song... Kishi Bashi-The Ballad of Mr. Steak
Is this supposed to be about our prediction of the song that we will hear the most over the next few months in pop/mainstream culture or the song that Stereogum followers plan on listening to the most over the summer because they love it?
Rudimental are just finally starting to make waves outside of the UK. They were supposed to open for Ellie Goulding on her current tour but they have been mysteriously absent. It would have gained them a lot of fans but instead it has really upset the ones they already had.
The Communion Records Showcase @ St. David’s Episcopal Church 7:45PM Bear’s Den 8:45PM Nick Mulvey 9:45PM Hozier 10:45PM Tennis 11:45PM Sam Smith 12:45PM Vance Joy
You could also check out Hozier who plays tonight at Maggie Maes Gibson Room. Even better…you can see him sing his amazing song, "Take me to Church" in an actual church on Friday. (St David's Historic Sanctuary) Have you seen the video for the song yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYSVMgRr6pw
Well, at least it wasn't 'Royals'. Krist Novoselic did that one on accordion the other night...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNXvAaaYLeo
Did you catch this one a few weeks ago? Girls fight back with awesome toilet-paper guns! Faul & Wad Ad vs. Pnau - Changes (Official Video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_tyPKUZumw
Half Moon Run made a pretty good Halloween themed horror movie video for one of their best songs: "She Wants To Know" http://vimeo.com/78239816
My favorite release this week was KHUSHI- Magpie. It is getting some attention on music blogs but definitely deserves more. Sweet video too, especially toward the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=undoSJOhfg0
I've heard it on the radio in Canada.
So, Canada has some great bands like Half Moon Run and last years summer song topper, Japandroids. But then I remembered that Carly Rae Jepson is also from Canada. So I've got to warn you that Classified-"Inner Ninja" could sneak up on you this year like Call Me Maybe did last summer.
