first time ever seeing the dylan tribute performance.... wow. politics aside what a ballsy move to stand up and do it solo. and politics not aside very interesting considering all that's come to light since. handled it like a g indeed.
You guyses are such black keys haters.... BROTHERS and totes mcgotes on all the Kanye shouldn't be #1 comments (even though I've been listening to it for 4 days straight)
Man, is scarlett johansson good lookin'
Everytime I hear a new KOL song, I mourn what was once one of my favorite bands. Those first two albums were so fucking badass. I used to push them on all my friends... now I feel silly. The worst part? Every one of their newer singles ends up in my heads for months at a time. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (blah blah blah watterrrr... blah blah blah watterrr) noooooooooo!
Aerosmith! If you book them, they will come.
I think the positive comments on here are not actually approvals of this "song" as much as they are a testament to the power (and admittedly, greatness) of the blue album, and to a lesser degree pinkerton. because everything else since then (- maybe hash pipe) is awful. no really. its awful. weezer is now awful.
what if it's absolutely god awful?
really? I'm first? surprisingly short set. way more older stuff than I expected. starting over on Sprawl II was funny/interesting/cool to watch but second go wasn't that much better, even with the right beat. Other than Sprawl the new stuff sounded really tight. Glad to see "we used to wait" translates terrifically live, its my favorite on the new album (rococo is a sleeper pick for most epic new song though) And fucking wake up... can still bring tears to my eyes live. I especially liked that when it was over, instead of shuffling through 20,000 people and getting on a hot, overcrowded subway I got to take the dog out, take a piss, make a bourbon on the rocks and sit back down on my couch in basketball shorts. good stuff.
This may be because I just turned this off and put the new Arcade Fire back on but.... Every now and then I get really into a band like this because it fits my mood, or where I'm at, or the sun is out... but I just can't help but think they made this music because they know its relevant right now. Fuzz-summer-retro-pop shit is in right now, and it's summer time. These two have spent their last year on a fucking sailboat ?!? Who has the money for that? That's like my ultimate fantasy Anyways, all I'm saying is I think its lazy of us to love some happy-go-lucky pop song with some sha-la-las, when we could just as easily all go 20-30 years back into our records/cds and find better, more original sha-la-las and not give some opportunists our attention. They're throwing together some catchy shit and putting some lyrics about sailing over it... I mean really? They're called fucking TENNIS and I hate myself for liking it... god damn it
scandaloustouch.. are you com truise? You're really defensive. I got bored and took this online class for fun last month, and part of it involved making a podast with audiocity... anyways, now that I took a shitty online class, im pretttty sure I could make this "song"
I don't this is going to sell anyone on arcade fire who doesn't already love them. Or change the minds of those who hate arcade fire. My aunt is a musician and singer (in her late 40s) who's super into old country/bluegrass/soul/r&b etc. She's a cool lady. She bought me my first CD - U2's Boy - the same year my mom bought me Hootie and the Blowfish, and followed it up year after year with things like "from the muddy banks of wishkah". Point is, I respect my aunt's taste... but I've tried numerous times to get her into arcade fire, and she just doesn't get the "angst" in it all.. (her word). This won't change her mind. I however, fucking love arcade fire, and fucking love this CD. (and I still say my aunt's a fool)
We were way, way in the back by the first aid tent while he was talking, and, I kid you not, for the first 30 seconds my girlfriend and I seriously tried to figure out if he was Michael Moore or not. We just saw overweight late-middle aged man with scrappy hair and a hat on, and we couldn't really hear what he was saying but could tell it was obnoxious, the crowd was angry, and he was flopping. Honest mistake?
I don't think sleigh bells' set was their bad. the sound on the Balance Stage was off all day (in almost shit the bed on Local Natives a few times too)... I think their set was great but I agree it was almost totally ruined by how quiet it was.... you should of been able to hear it in wrigleyville. Which sucks because I was looking forward to them more than anyone - and am now pissed I didn't check their show here in Louisville last week. I think Pitchfork way underestimated the local natives hype as well... I know they tend to put bands with less experience and less material (and shorter sets) on the balance stage but the crowd was ridiculous, which highlighted what an awful spot that beer tent next to the small stage is in - I'm surprised they kept it there after last year. Maybe they have it there to block out noise from A and C stages? Overall, still one of my favorite annual festivals, though... in case anyone was wondering.
you's both crazy. love it.
Thank god, I can't believe I got this far down the comments before someone said that. Or that it even needed to be explained. The american flags are there in an, "imagine if this happened here" way. not a "america is evil" way. Come on, now. (and yes, I understand MIA would probably tell us America is evil, anyways).
Want to go to the best festival of the year? Go to whatever festival I went to LAST YEAR and am not planning on going to this year. (e.g. Lolla 2010 > Lolla 2009, Sasquatch! 2009 > Sasquatch! 2008, etc. etc.). Damn it. Why? WHY?
Initial freak out has turned into pleasantness. Took me a minute, but Well Done!
