I was born on September 3 when "La Bamba" was still on top of the Billboard 100. I really don't like this single, the chorus is so annoying and I wish it was another number one song in the US around my birth date. Luckily, I was born in a German small town and "Voyage Voyage" by Desireless was the Krauts' favorite song at that time.
Nick Jonas with musical guest Jonas Nick!
Yessss! Love the songs from the Coconut album from 2010, especially "Shark's Tooth".
Whoever was the owner of that club should take full responsibility of that situation im Houston.
I really liked Viagra Boys! So much so that I almost wrote "Viagra Joys". Speaking of joy, their record was fun and often had funny sarcastic lyrics. Sure, the first half of it is a bit stronger though "Girls & Boys" slaps but give it another try. Also really good: Jasmine Sullivan, R.A.P. Ferreira and shame.
I'm mildly disappointed that the new record of R.A.P. Ferreira (fka milo) wasn't this week's reviewed album, let alone featured in the Furious Five. I mean, to have the balls to release your album on the very first day of 2021? "bob's son" deserves more love...
Would love to read a TWIP article in the future about the disco revival featuring folks like Kylie Minogue, Jessie Ware and Dua Lipa.
Not everyone is a Tom. No, just joking. You're doing a really good job!
Some random word play + Kanye song title play after having read this article: "Nah Mistakes". "Nah Church in the Wild". "Nah More Parties in LA".
Oh, I forgot that this was already released! "Jealousy" it is then.
Róisín's "Narcissus" is such a neo-disco banger!
I get the feeling that both the Stereogum critics and the ones at "the other site" don't love The Ascension as much as many fans do. Fine, whatever. I personally dig "Make Me An Offer I Cannot Refuse" and "Die Happy" a lot.
You deserve a thousand upvotes. It's like a rollercoaster of emotions every time I listen to it (while thinking about the sad and real story of Gerry Rafferty).
I've never been the biggest The National fan, but I expected to see Matt Berninger's third and gorgeous solo single "One More Second" here.
Scott Walker (R.I.P.)
Ah, yes, 99 Luftballons (99 Red Balloons). One of the few German New Wave hits that weren't annoying. It is in fact one of the most beloved and popular German-language chart singles in Germany. Period.
I am probably the only person mixing up Katie Dey and Katie Gately constantly, right?
I've chosen "Never Come Back" because you can never go wrong with a Caribou track, right?
Since this is also the latest Adult Swim 2020 Single I want to address that I'd love to see the tag "Adult Swim Singles" here in the future. Because Adult Swim does a great job in curating songs of party prominent artists and bands that are diverse and often exclusive. Unfortunately, those new releases often get lost in the shuffle of music news.

I know, Blackout Tuesday happened yesterday. But could we get the AOTW column on a Wednesday (i.e. today)? With RTJ4 as its winner?
How do you pronounce that name 645AR? "Basar", "Gasar", "Six-four-five-A-R"?
Wait, I've read that the release of Rufus Wainwright's upcoming album was pushed back to July.
Unpopular opinion: Miss SAWAYAMA > Miss I Disagree Poppy > Miss Anthropocene
The whole album is on YouTube. Fiona herself uploaded all the songs from it. That's so fetch!
This week could have been The Week in/of Chromatica.
I like that you can read the livestream tmes for Los Angeles, New York, London, and then Prishtina. That is obviously a nod to her Kosovan heritage!
I was expecting a Jay Electronica review this week, but yeah, Breaking News rap is another good topic...
No "After Hours"?
Vampy Weeks win Best Alternative Album!
IMOHO: It's an okay to good record, but the songs didn't stick (except for the Sublime cover). She should have called the album "Teflon Fucking Don".
It's because her album title could already be considered an adjective (or a person).
ALSO: "All Mirrors" would be a much more mysterious sounding Bond movie title than "No Time to Die".
Dude, listen to "Five Seconds" again, it's so underrated!
