The LCD Soundsystem farewell leg at the Hollywood Bowl where Treats-era Sleigh Bells and Hot Chip opened shall forever sit in my mind as my peak 2010s indie experience.
This album melted my face off then, still does now, and I'm so thankful that it paved the way for the weird-noise-pop heaven we're feasting on these days.
yo james, have you considered in 2017 that if you're playing a 5 day residency in brooklyn and making shitloads of dough in the process and no one put a gun to your head to sign up for it and you're generally aware of the fact that every human there will have an HD recording device in their pocket and it's pretty recently after you slapped a huge segment of your fanbase in the face by reuniting p soon after your LAST EVER SHOW and you happen to play new music at this same 5 day residency, then you are by definition releasing the music there, at least in some form? and also doing it in a way you wanted to release it? idk
psyched to youtube the new shit, that's all
Badass column on the music biz as always, Michael.
However, as this is the Internet, I feel the need to be pedantic on the British politics front and point out that Brexiteer politicians are not resigning en masse. Boris Johnson hasn't resigned. He stood down from the Conservative leadership race after being knifed in the back by another (Brexiteer) MP who was his campaign manager and stole a large group of his supporters. The race for the Conservative leadership race and with it the position of prime minister is between a Euroskeptic Remainer and a Brexiteer. This is what happens when we trust John Oliver as our source for British news on this side of the Atlantic.
This is Weird Al-esque in a way. Pretty damn decent in the moment but will be horribly dated by next month. Can you imagine listening to the phrase "Kimoji just shut down the App Store" in 2018?
