I'm pretty sure that image is actually of an Andy Rooney impersonator from one of those "rent a 'celebrity' for your birthday party!" companies

This remake better be set in 2041 so they can feature the 50-year Storm again
Here's something that's been bugging me, but a friend offered a possible explanation... curious what you guys think: So the Los Pollos Hermanos trucks from the opening scenes of the previous two episodes, the one that got shot to hell before Mike shot those guys, and the one where the two dudes got all carbon-monoxided, how are those not attracting some kind of police/DEA suspicion? Mike was around for the first truck so maybe he arranged the cleanup, but with the second truck, the cartel grabbed one bucket of meth-filled chicken batter and left two dead bodies w/ M-16s, a truck full of bullet holes, and who knows how many buckets still containing meth, just sitting on the side of a highway. How did that avoid the APD or DEA's attention? One possibility that my friend brought up: Maybe Gus's "concerned citizen" act and charity checks are a front for paying off the DEA dudes? That would explain why, after Hank laid out a pretty convincing case about the air filter and the weird European shell company that owns Los Pollos Hermanos, the two guys were just like "yeah cool story bro" and he had to bring out the gus's-fingerprint-in-gale's-apartment bombshell to get their attention. If they're being paid to look the other way, it'd be in their interest to try to discount his theory. Also explains the phone call tipoff that Hank got before the ax-wielding twins came to try to kill him.
they actually still perform at the Dresden in LA! 5 nights a week, I think
I realize that "breaking raw air" was a typo, but it's ALSO my new favorite way to describe farting. (because I am 12)
You were right. The publishing business is too competitive.

found it thanks to some google streetview sleuthing! http://www.leaguecenter.org/land.html the artist's name is Michael Pellew http://www.openingceremony.us/entry.asp?pid=381 http://www.openingceremony.us/userfiles/image/news/nov09/newpellew/12.jpg
I forget the name... I think there's a sticker on the back of the cards with the name/address, so I'll look at them when I get home. It's in dumbo somewhere.
The Ryan White thing reminded me of this... there's a store in Brooklyn where they sell art made by autistic & retarded adults and the proceeds help fund their center, and this one guy makes these greeting cards with random celebrities hanging out with each other wishing you happy birthday, merry xmas, etc. ("Shaquille O'Neal and Michael Jackson wish you Happy Halloween!"). They are all amazing, but this is my favorite: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3555/5815578790_d9cd0655d0_o.jpg "Mötley Crüe remembering their friend Ryan White, who died of AIDS in 1990, wishing you a happy birthday! Ryan White RIP" Best $5 I've ever spent.
Yeah, and I guess I run into* the asshole-car double parking more than I do the delivery-truck double parking b/c I mostly ride in Brooklyn and try to avoid riding in Manhattan whenever possible. * "run into" meaning "encounter," not "run into" meaning http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3487/5814836443_d4037730e0_o.jpg
no I understand, but it seems like the NYPD should ticket them as aggressively as they've been ticketing cyclists recently, because it's not always commercial delivery trucks. In Brooklyn, tons of people just leave their car in the bike lane for 15 minutes while they go into a friend's house to pick something up or whatever, and I've never seen a cop giving a ticket to someone blocking the bike lane. Meanwhile, I have a friend who walked his bike to the curb, but still had the back wheel on the sidewalk when he started to ride away, and got ticketed for "riding on the sidewalk." ("Good anecdotal evidence, very relevant and persuasive." - Everyone)
even with a mirror, it's still dangerous to have to move into a lane of traffic, especially if it's rainy or dark and hard to see behind you with the mirror or by turning around to look. The existence of a product that minimizes the risk doesn't excuse the behavior that creates the risk in the first place.
the problem is that often "pedaling around it" means "swerving out into traffic without really being able to look to see if there's a truck about to run you over," which is really dangerous. Basically, I don't want to die so that some delivery guy doesn't have to find a legal parking space.
as a cyclist I'm torn about this video. Blocking bike lanes really is super dangerous and cops don't really enforce it as much as they should. But also, I want to give this guy every ticket for everything, because ugh.
I'm offended, Scott. My joke-stealing is more Denis Leary than Dane Cook ::angrily smokes cigarette, makes dumb face::
man, It's been a long day. I didn't even see it'sahotdog's first post. APOLOGIES, MONSTERS

also somehow I was briefly logged in as "Pauli Lioplis." I don't even know who I am anymore!

yeah i mean I'd like to see more of it, kinda hard to tell overall what they're going to look like in this teaser trailer (aside from that shot at the end). Tintin was always the most "normal looking" of the characters, not as obviously cartoonish as Thompson and Thomson, Captain Haddock, Prof. Calculus, etc. But I think Dick Lightning made a good point above... if they'd made a really well-done traditional cel animation version instead, I think people would be more into it. Though it might get written off as just a kids' movie that way, I suppose. Whatever I'm going to give them my money like a sucker anyway
Tintin is one of my favorite things ever so I will be completely incapable of judging this film properly. I'll just be so excited that it actually exists that my brain won't process anything other than "holy shit it's Tintin!" Uncanny valley be damned.
for years that was the only way to pay for Katz's sandwiches, but just recently they started accepting money

you guys, I just want to point out this amazing line from the Access Hollywood article about the arrest so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle of punched cars and shitty movies: "...the 47-year-old star was arrested after he got drunk in the city’s French Quarter and argued in the street with his wife, Alice Kim, over whether a house they were in front of was theirs, police said Saturday." Nicolas Cage: unsure of which houses he owns
I'm looking forward to seeing that classic Ron Artest sense of humor on display http://www.bloguinnetwork.com/randallsimonssausages/images/stories/ron-artest-they-call-me-crazy-reality-show.jpg

I went to Kronum.com, and they appear to have applied that classic Kronum touch to their website-- simple, straightforward, not-at-all unnecessarily confusing. This is what happens when you click "Fan Base": http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5306/5619829686_ccc799ab31_o.jpg A new website for the new era of modern athlete.

also you guys keep in mind that sometimes a site running a contest like this will notice a huge spike in votes, and if it seems like there are multiple votes coming from the same IP address, they might suspect bot-voting or some other shady thing and disqualify that entrant. So be careful, don't go nuts clicking vote a million times over and over again, it might actually backfire and get her kicked out of the contest.
Voted! And a suggestion: she should upload a photo so it's more eye-catching / more likely that she'll get clicks and votes. Right now that generic pink MLB logo just sort of blends in with the other entries, so it'll help her chances (I think) if there's a photo. Best wishes to you & your mom.
this is on the trash cans at Vinnie's Pizza in williamsburg: http://fatholes.us/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/vinnies_trash.jpg
Disagree. I thought it was a pretty decent film, more original/entertaining than most of the crap that gets churned out in the action genre. The girl who played Hanna was awesome, Eric Bana was all Eric Bana-y, the little British friend was hilarious, a bunch of random soldier/agent-type dudes got beat up. It wasn't perfect, by any means, and perhaps I went into it with lower expectations, but I was happy with it overall. Cate Blanchett was terrible, though. Cate Blanchett + villain role + accent = garbage. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5142/5612758383_3be691c69f_o.jpg I rest my case.
