Brilliant song, I'm obsessed. I think my contender for song of the year.
Heads up to those interested, this has leaked now O_o Also some other good reviews are starting to add up at metacritic: http://www.metacritic.com/music/painted-ruins/grizzly-bear Hope everyone enjoys!
Certainly less folk this time around
Agree they tend to make "a piece of art that’ll be able to exist on its own terms" which is why the convo about the differing of trends over the years feels a bit moot in regards to them. I've been listening to this album almost every day, and I'm on my fourth listen today. What I love about them is the attention to details and layers, and the way they make new fresh sounds with such a human touch throughout their catalog. This being their most human, propulsive and in many ways immediate album yet. With many of my favorite songs saved from the single picks to be enjoyed in the context of the album as whole. It's gorgeous and I love how much it reveals itself over time.
Of course excited if they are back, but can we talk about the ridiculousness of announcing big break ups and coming back within the next couple years...
so cool to hear them break down that gorgeous dreamy chord progression part
Not to throw more shade in the mix or bring up more beef, but it does seem like a choice time to discuss how music press also makes money on...faking beef between artists that don't really mean it to be read that way
Such a sweet, incredibly talented person, and his new album is amazing! Excited whenever he's going to share it with the world.
i feel like once the full album is out people will be more hyped. just as it seems to be people are digging the new singles as they come.
As well as projections on to the perception of what an artist has been doing with their time/their intentions. And then comparing that to projections onto another artist life/intentions. I find that so insane. Talk about puzzles...
I find it to be devastatingly gorgeous and riveting from beginning to end. And then I start it over again. I love music with textures, twists and turns, arcs and valleys. And I've loved that in all of FF's music since the beginning. To me, this album just takes it lightyears further and in that way it's a masterpiece in my book.
I personally dig a group of musicians who enjoy trying to make music that sustains longer than a "new release buzz campaign"
Ed's voice sounds better than ever! His performance really seems to have grown a lot this past tour. So good, every time.
Valid points, but I'm afraid you're responding to another discussion and missing the point of the article.
