Agree they tend to make "a piece of art that’ll be able to exist on its own terms" which is why the convo about the differing of trends over the years feels a bit moot in regards to them.
I've been listening to this album almost every day, and I'm on my fourth listen today. What I love about them is the attention to details and layers, and the way they make new fresh sounds with such a human touch throughout their catalog. This being their most human, propulsive and in many ways immediate album yet. With many of my favorite songs saved from the single picks to be enjoyed in the context of the album as whole. It's gorgeous and I love how much it reveals itself over time.
Of course excited if they are back, but can we talk about the ridiculousness of announcing big break ups and coming back within the next couple years...
Not to throw more shade in the mix or bring up more beef, but it does seem like a choice time to discuss how music press also makes money on...faking beef between artists that don't really mean it to be read that way
As well as projections on to the perception of what an artist has been doing with their time/their intentions. And then comparing that to projections onto another artist life/intentions. I find that so insane. Talk about puzzles...
I find it to be devastatingly gorgeous and riveting from beginning to end. And then I start it over again. I love music with textures, twists and turns, arcs and valleys. And I've loved that in all of FF's music since the beginning. To me, this album just takes it lightyears further and in that way it's a masterpiece in my book.
