i will take the fact that no one has commented on the flaming lips' performance as a silent, universal agreement that their appearance was at once tasteful, over-the-top, cool, fun, and life-affirming.
snoop actually makes much more sense than apparat.
Holy Fuck. It takes some sizeable testes to open a full-length album with a live track. Then again, pretty much everything on that album was recorded from straight-up live takes from what I understand. "Andorra" was also fantastic.. I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if Dan Snaith takes home the prize.
that's pretty freaky, bowie. isn't it cold, quite cold out there bowie? do you need my jumper bowie?
i personally prefer "99 problems here" from the slack album, but whatev.
i'm sorry, is your daughter in a coma?
i'm surprised jessica hopper hasn't called him out on this.
ron paul does not bow to the apple empire and their shoddy foreign-made parts. ron paul listens to jackson frank and john fahey records on his vintage magnavox turntable. ron paul also enjoys the solid gold sounds of am radio.
"sovay" by andrew bird is an intelligent, subtle, well-written anti-war song.
theodore francis leo deserves a top ten list of his own.
well, david.. the thing is.. there's absolutely nothing thought provoking about this song. i'm sure it can whip the anti-bush crowd up in a frenzy.. but that doesn't excuse the fact that it lacks any lyrical depth. not that under the radar is actually capable of recognizing that, but whatever.
miseducation is a solid hip hop album.. which seldom gets its due from critics, mainstream or otherwise. i certainly don't agree with placing it in the top 10, but of all the more mainstream records on the list, it's one of the best.
i bought my last couple of records from iggy pop's half-brother in a back alley in detroit. you're losing your edge.
jesus, man, could you change the channel? i had a rough night and hate the fuckin' eagles, man.
i'm happy to see "sucked out" by superdrag in the top 500. the entire list is a fun read. oh, and stfu about "cut your hair".. all you wannabe hardcore pavement fans are always bashing "cut your hair" and "gold soundz" and "spit on a stranger". those are some of their best songs.. get over it.
the wrens! yes! and please no one make fun of me.. but i kind of like(d) saves the day.
spiritualized has a very distinct, otherworldly aesthetic. j.'s references to drugs don't make him a junkie any more than his references to God/Jesus make him a fundamentalist religious nut. that being said, "g" is certainly an idiot, and songs in a&e is solid from start to finish.
it'd be pretty cool to see tim rutilli going back to his red red meat jams. otherwise, not much i'd be excited about other than low, comets on fire, grand archives, flight of the conchords, mudhoney, kinski and no age. well.. ok. that is enough to be pretty damn excited. sometimes i hate living in the midwest.
that wasn't a proper album. it was an EP, wiz kid.
interpol - turn on the bright lights
doesn't eisner like own stereogum or something?
i never though faust would become this popular, but looks like they caught on in the mainstream after all.
the sequencing on the ad is just terrible.
That's eerily similar to John "Stumpy" Pepys who died in a bizarre, unexplained gardening accident.
