Kanye: Don't Blame Me, Blame Bonnaroo

Hey, remember that time I stood around in a farm waiting 'til 4:40 in the morning with a few thousand irately chanting, drug seizure having, bottle throwing people at Bonnaroo, waiting for Kanye to do a Glow In The Dark...  CONTINUE READING KANYE: DON'T BLAME ME, BLAME BONNAROO»

My Morning Jacket Meet Their Biggest Fan On Conan

Did you see Conan last night? That Anne Hathaway is delightful. Did you know she used to be in a college a cappella group? My Morning Jacket were on too, and they did "Touch Me I'm Going to Scream (Part...  CONTINUE READING MY MORNING JACKET MEET THEIR BIGGEST FAN ON CONAN»

Ben Folds Previews New Material

Between all the ranting (Kanye) and raving (Sigur Rós) we didn't get a chance to talk about Ben Folds's set at Bonnaroo. He's still abusing his Baldwin (a string broke on "Landed") and putting the audience to work on vocal...  CONTINUE READING BEN FOLDS PREVIEWS NEW MATERIAL»

"Fuck Kanye West": The Bonnaroo Graffiti Photo Set

Bonnaroo was amazing in so many ways. Waiting 'til 4:40AM for Kanye to hit the stage was definitely not one of them. While waiting those two hours I heard one "He better be getting head back there," a few "This...  CONTINUE READING "FUCK KANYE WEST": THE BONNAROO GRAFFITI PHOTO SET»

Death Cab Try On Short Shorts, Sweatbands, WhirlyBall For MTV

Ben, Chris, Jason, and Nick hopped inside bumper cars and took on the onerous task of learning how to play WhirlyBall as part of their 52 Bands/52 Weeks stint at MTV. We understand their Stereogum guest blogging stint was tough,...  CONTINUE READING DEATH CAB TRY ON SHORT SHORTS, SWEATBANDS, WHIRLYBALL FOR MTV»

Bonnaroo: It's A (Photo) Wrap

The tents are collapsed, the recycling collected, the hippies headed to the showers (j/k hippies don't take showers). Bonnaroo '08 now belongs to the chemically enhanced memories of its campers, and to message boards worldwide as people bitch about...  CONTINUE READING BONNAROO: IT'S A (PHOTO) WRAP»

Bonnaroo: Pearl Jam Give Good Ed

PJ's headlining set Saturday night brought treated one of Bonnaroo's largest crowds to a three-hour, 25 song set. Like Lolla '07, it didn't disappoint, except that it had 100% less Dennis Rodman. EdVed remains a golden god. It's a...  CONTINUE READING BONNAROO: PEARL JAM GIVE GOOD ED»

Bonnaroo: Five Reasons You Need To See Sigur Rós This Year

They (i.e. Barbara Streisand) say people who need people are the luckiest people. But you know who really are the luckiest people? People who have a ticket to see Sigur Rós this summer. It's not that I haven't seen...  CONTINUE READING BONNAROO: FIVE REASONS YOU NEED TO SEE SIGUR RóS THIS YEAR»

Bonnaroo: The Sun Exposes Kanye's Glow In The Dark Show

A month ago the NYTimes's Jon Pareles reviewed Kanye's Glow In The Dark tour stop at MSG saying "There is a new yardstick for the size of the universe. It is approximately equal to the size of Kanye West's ego."...  CONTINUE READING BONNAROO: THE SUN EXPOSES KANYE'S GLOW IN THE DARK SHOW»

Bonnaroo: Photos Of Funny People (Chris Rock, Zach Galifianakis, Reggie Watts, John Mulaney)

It's Economics 101: During hard times and increasing competition, secure your viability by diversifying your brand. Maybe? If I had ever taken Econ I'd know. That sounds good anyway, so I'm going with it. And so is Bonnaroo: Music...  CONTINUE READING BONNAROO: PHOTOS OF FUNNY PEOPLE (CHRIS ROCK, ZACH GALIFIANAKIS, REGGIE WATTS, JOHN MULANEY)»

Bonnaroo: Metallica Are Awesome At Ther Instruments, Being Photographed

Every festival has that band that becomes small talk fodder fest wide, the easy ice breaker, the default conversational touchstone. Last year's Lolla it was Pearl Jam. Last year's Bonnaroo it was the Police. And last night, it was...  CONTINUE READING BONNAROO: METALLICA ARE AWESOME AT THER INSTRUMENTS, BEING PHOTOGRAPHED»

Chris Rock Doing Bonnaroo's What? Stage

The hippie jokes are gonna be just a little more original this year! Bonnaroo announces Chris Rock will do a one-hour set of material on the fest's main stage, likely tackling politics, in-case-shit, and dirty twirling kids for one of the largest audiences ever to assemble and be openly mocked to their faces. Too bad it won't be in the comedy tent, but that's gonna be plenty fun this year, anyway. It features Zach Galifianakis, Janeane Garofalo, Mike Birbiglia Jim Norton, Brian Posehn, and "Late Time Chat About": a nighttime live talk show featuring skits, guests, and houseband, hosted by David Cross. Stereogum's drinking game suggestion: Take a shot every time a comic mentions Jack Johnson. You will be wasted.
