New Goldfrapp - "Little Bird" (Animal Collective Remix)

Animal Collective's balmy, colorful headlining set was a Pitchfork Festival highlight. On Goldfrapp's "Caravan Girl" digital single, they sprinkle a thimble full of tropical fireworks onto Seventh Tree's "Little Bird." It's an interesting, pretty overlap -- Alison Goldfrapp's smeary, plaintive...  CONTINUE READING NEW GOLDFRAPP - "LITTLE BIRD" (ANIMAL COLLECTIVE REMIX)»

New Goldfrapp Video - "Caravan Girl"

Continuing the recent run of summertime videos, Goldfrapp's "Caravan Girl" follows a skateboarder from her caravan park home base across town, past the oceans, down highways, and through tunnels, armed with her trusty radio, checkerboard kicks, and warm breezes. She...  CONTINUE READING NEW GOLDFRAPP VIDEO - "CARAVAN GIRL"»

Goldfrapp Bring "Happiness," Questionable Wardrobe Decision To Leno

Once upon a time we told you "Happiness" was a guy pogoing down the street in white formalwear. It can also be a warm gun. Or, it seems, Alison, Will, & Co. drinking the Kool-Aid, laying down a hippie throw...  CONTINUE READING GOLDFRAPP BRING "HAPPINESS," QUESTIONABLE WARDROBE DECISION TO LENO»

New Goldfrapp Video - "Happiness"

Happiness is a guy pogoing down the street in white formalwear. With legs where the pogo stick should be. Will and Alison took some chances with the smoothed and yes happy new record, and it hasn't been to everyone's liking...  CONTINUE READING NEW GOLDFRAPP VIDEO - "HAPPINESS"»

Stream Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree

With "A&E," and its bodies-of-leaves video, it was clear Alison and Will were set to veer off from the Black Cherry sound they continued to mine with Supernature; some called it out for being too MOR, but we highly recommend taking some time with this album stream. It's a softer, string-laden side of the pair we're seeing these days, but there's nothing wrong with some lush introspection after all that dancing. The album's out 2/26 on Mute, and they have some dates coming up with BTW frYars.

Goldfrapp Covers Klaxons

Artists paying homage to their contemporaries via cover tunes isn't strictly a British phenomenon, but at least when captured in studio, it seems they float over to us from the other side of the Atlantic more often than not. (Even...  CONTINUE READING GOLDFRAPP COVERS KLAXONS»

New Goldfrapp Video - "A&E"

Did we hear you say you wanted more, more, MOR Goldfrapp earlier this week? We got you. Our sleeping beauty comes to on a bed of autumn leaves, singing "Like I'm walking up surrounded by me," and here "me" is...  CONTINUE READING NEW GOLDFRAPP VIDEO - "A&E"»

New Goldfrapp - "A&E" (And Seventh Tree Album Art)

The new Goldfrapp tune would fit well in some Paul Thomas Anderson flick, maybe connecting all the forlorn characters a la "Wise Up," only on a bright blue Saturday, not such a rainy work night. It's pretty and straightforward and...  Seventh Tree Album Art)'">CONTINUE READING NEW GOLDFRAPP - "A&E" (AND SEVENTH TREE ALBUM ART)»

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
