Mammas, Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Indie Rockers

Mother's Day is this weekend. Hopefully you haven't forgotten. If you did, then hopefully you've done something great enough that your poor mom can get by on motherly pride alone. Like, for instance, over at emusic, there's a dang cute...  CONTINUE READING MAMMAS, LET YOUR BABIES GROW UP TO BE INDIE ROCKERS»

Previously On LOST: The Band

Since it's LOST Thursday (yes, we forgot about the change from Wednesday until last night, too), here's a bit that came to the inbox a few days back: Thanks to Adam Schatz and Jeff Curtin for tipping us off to the the worst -- but funniest -- way to catch up with each week's bygone LOST chapter. Previously On LOST will write, record, and post to MySpace a song after each episode, offering a recap and handy reminder of the madness that went down. The first song's called "We're Going Home." Kitschy, but cute (and a fun link to forward to similarly LOST souls). Plus it's really fun to sing along to! C'mon, everybody: "We are the Oceanic Six ... we are the Oceanic Six ... I think I'm gonna grow a beard..."

Highlights From The Thermals' Karaoke Experience @ Studio B

That New York x New York karoake redux thing happened last night in Brooklyn, this time swapping of Montreal for the Thermals as the event's house band, and honestly, we were at home pausing our TiVOs to try and get...  CONTINUE READING HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE THERMALS' KARAOKE EXPERIENCE @ STUDIO B»

Soundtrack To Your Lost Premiere Party

Got friends coming over for tonight's nerd Superbowl? Before you sit in silence, eyes glued to ABC, check out Neatorama's party ideas. Our favorites: 1. Refreshments: Airplane-sized bottles of liquor and mini packets of peanuts. 2. Decor: Luggage scattered all...  CONTINUE READING SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR LOST PREMIERE PARTY»

A Silver Mt. Zion Get Pulled Into The LOST Drama

NY media's major television infatuation this year has been, justly, The Wire (write your senator, this show deserves an Emmy etc.), but by our count, there's still plenty of people losing their shit over LOST. Including those on A Silver...  CONTINUE READING A SILVER MT. ZION GET PULLED INTO THE LOST DRAMA»

New Michael Video Directed By Jin

Harold Perrineau, the actor who plays Michael on Lost, has a truly bad video, directed by Daniel Dae Kim (Jin on Lost), for his truly bad song "Stay Strong," which is in the vein of Billy Joel's "Christmas In Fallujah," only more '80s and with a Billy Ocean vibe. But what we really wanna know is ... does this mean Walt is OK??? Damn we are so ready for this.

Videos Continue To Prove Their Worth (As Top Notch Advertorial Tools)

Music videos on TV are not lost! They're just growing. Painfully. Now that MTV essentially has abandoned the format, leave it to network TV to step up to the plate. ABC's marketing team hit ratings gold last year by self-producing...  CONTINUE READING VIDEOS CONTINUE TO PROVE THEIR WORTH (AS TOP NOTCH ADVERTORIAL TOOLS)»

Don't Read This If You Haven't Yet Seen The Last LOST

That post title is your SPOILER ALERT, so be mindful. Before heading down to the dim sum joint to eat with Man Man, we triple checked our TiVOs and then checked 'em one more time. The LOST creators promised a...  CONTINUE READING DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T YET SEEN THE LAST LOST»

God Save Naveen

Today's installment of Stereogum's ongoing, dire attempts to find excuses to post about LOST is, well, considerably less dire than posts past. In a flashback-worthy crossing of paths, the actor who portrays America's favorite Iraqi torture expert, Naveen Andrews, found...  CONTINUE READING GOD SAVE NAVEEN»

When Arcade Fire Say "No," Snow Patrol Says "Yes!"

Monday night marked the series premiere of NBC's great dramatic hope for a workable Studio 60 replacement, The Black Donnellys. Anybody watch? We didn't either. Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Premature Evaluation: Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul

Pushing Noel off a stage in Toronto might bruise the erstwhile Oasis mouthpiece's ribs (maybe even his spirits) and cause the band to cancel a show or two, but nothing can stop the slow procession toward a new Oasis album....
