The 5 Best Videos Of The Week

It’s not a proper music video, so it’s not on this list, but Yours Truly’s series of videos from the Young Turks new years festival in Tulum, Mexico is the greatest marriage of music and moving images that I’ve seen this week. These clips — Caroline Polachek singing opera while standing knee-deep in a crystalline… More »

Chromeo – “Come Alive” (Feat. Toro Y Moi) Video

Chromeo’s video for “Come Alive,” their dinky synth-funk jam with Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bundick, takes obvious inspiration from the lovably cheesed-out 1987 movie Mannequin and from the cartoonish videos that held down the era of MTV from around the time Mannequin came out. Fanfarlo – “Deconstruction” Video (Stereogum Premiere)

Though Fanfarlo’s new LP still doesn’t have a title — or a release date, for that matter — that’s not stopping the grandiose UK indie rock outfit from churning out new music. We posted the video for the album’s first single, “Replicate,” and today we have the black-and-white, vintage cinema-channeling clip for “Deconstruction.” Alex Southam… More »

Lanterns On The Lake – “Keep On Trying” Video (Stereogum Premiere)

“Keep On Trying” is a twinkling sigh of a song from the British dreampop group Lanterns On The Lake. For the song’s video, director Alex Southam cobbles together a whole mess of artfully photographed images of English seaside-town life. The song doesn’t start until about 40 seconds into the video, but the pretty pictures start… More »
