All of that is true. Also true: With the current expansive fawning over Grizzly Bear it could be easy to temporarily forget about Dan Rossen’s Department Of Eagles. It gets more difficult, though, when In Ear Park‘s title track is soundtracking Soft Bank commercials featuring Brad Pitt and a sensitive sumo wrestler. It gets slightly easier again when you find out the commercial’s only airing in Japan, but more people watch YouTube than television (unsubstantiated claim), so that’s not a legit hurdle. Anyone care to interpret?

Win and Régine almost had a song turn up in Paul Haggis’s ill-fated NBC drama The Black Donnellys, until Win and Régine found out about it. And everybody thought they were scoring Richard Kelly’s upcoming movie The Box, until Arcade Fire found out about that, too. But according to The Playlist, this is one bit of song placement that’s gonna stick. The new Cate Blanchett/Brad Pitt flick and F. Scott Fitzgerald short-story adaptation The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button is being bandied about as an Oscar season sure shot: it’s the tale of a man born with the countenance of a septuagenarian, following his life as he reverse ages through time. Having thirty seconds of “My Body Is A Cage” affixed to the TV spot is what we in the biz call “smart.” Nice job, Hollywood:

We tend not to cover celebrity news too hard because we have an antiquated belief in guarding one’s sanity and the deeply unpopular, irrational belief that we should live in a meritocracy where people are judged on their talents rather than their fuckability. I might be the only one who doesn’t think that Sarah Silverman’s “I’m Fucking Matt Damon” video love letter to Jimmy Kimmel is the funniest thing. It’s nice when celebrities are able to make fun of themselves, but it’s mostly just getting a cheap laugh off of the word “fuck” for four minutes while celebrating how good looking Matt Damon is (laugh riot). Sure. Fine. This is still funnier, but I’m not in charge of entertainment. Anyway, last night Kimmel released a response video, “I’m Fucking Ben Affleck.”

As we all know, the best way to get even with a cheating girlfriend is to go out and sleep with a guy. This is all just conventional wisdom.
