It’s definitely been a second since we heard from Brooklyn-via-Chicago electro pop outfit Pretty Good Dance Moves, but early next year marks the release of their new album Limo. Limo is a 32-minute work in eight “movements” and showcases Brazilian Girls’ Sabina Sciubba as the featured vocalist. The closing track from Limo, “I Wonder Why,” which we have here today, coasts along to a breezy, laid-back pulse. Download the song after the jump.

This past Saturday and Sunday was the third annual Treasure Island Festival, on San Francisco’s Treasure Island. We sent Josh Bis to capture the weekend in photos.

In his silver fox incarnation, the ever-prolific David Byrne appears never to have met a collaborative opportunity he didn’t like. Just in the last few months he joined creative juices with Dirty Projectors and the grab-bag of Stereogum artist tags that was the N.A.S.A. LP, and here he ties some trademark anxious/excitable talk-singing (and proper crooning) to the English version of Brazilian Girls’ electro-groovy and faintly Heads-indebted “I’m Losing Myself.” The track originally appeared in French on the Girls’ New York City album, this time it’s coming as a stand alone single because, well, it’s got a David Byrne on it.

As we’ve learned of late, covering Talking Heads’ tunes ain’t the easiest thing to pull off (butchering the Heads’ tunes, well now you’re talking). Unlike Weiland ‘n’ Slash and those publicity hungry Exies, however, the Brazilian Girls’ Head-y take is worth the download. The Girls’ pan-global rhythmic chops are a nice fit for “Crosseyed And Painless,” the quartet serving up the track on a liquid-fusion bassline with enough low-mixed electro texture and groove permutations to keep your attention, and keep you away from your inner purist. Good stuff.
