(For this post&#8217;s intents and purposes we are side-stepping his covers of <a href="http://stereogum.com/74322/dan_rossen_covers_judee_sill/mp3s/">Judee Sill</a>, and of <a href="http://stereogum.com/64641/dan_rossen_covers_jojo_for_the_new_yorker/video/">JoJo</a>, though you really should get on that cover of JoJo.) Dan&#8217;s offering an EP via Warp Records, the same label that releases his Grizzly Bear songs, with the name <em>Silent Hour/Golden Mile</em>. We&#8217;ve posted its &#8220;<a href="http://stereogum.com/927502/daniel-rossen-saint-nothing/mp3s/">Saint Nothing</a>,&#8221; and now comes &#8220;Silent Song,&#8221; similarly negatory in title, similarly rich in sound: it splays that dusty sepia that colors so many of Dan&#8217;s acoustic tracks, with a kicker of pianos, slide guitar, and impassioned Rossen vocals, counter-melodies, harmonies, and the like. However their bills with fellow <em><a href="/archives/zomg_new_moon_soundtrack_leaked_094821.html">Twilight</a></em> superfan Annie Clark are hitting as scheduled, as evidenced by this clip of Daniel Rossen joining St. Vincent at Basel, Switzerland&#8217;s Volkshaus for a hypnotically looped pass at &#8220;The Party&#8221;: Annie does the singing, Mr. Rossen supplies the inverted guitar chord atmospherics.<br />
