FIDLAR – “Gimme Something” Video

Hedonistic L.A. punks FIDLAR’s video for their strummy, catchy-as-fuck number “Gimme Something” doesn’t feature FIDLAR at all. Instead, it appears to be made up entirely of ancient footage from a Creedence Clearwater Revival show, manipulated so that it looks like Creedence are playing “Gimme Something.” Watch it below. FIDLAR – “Gimme Something”

Los Angeles punk rockers FIDLAR have given us a steady supply of kickass songs in the last couple of months: “Cheap Beer,” “White On White,” “AWWWKWAARRRDDD.” Now here’s another one from their forthcoming self-titled album: A strummy, beery, vaguely Stones-esque song called “Gimme Something.” Stream it at Rolling Stone.

FIDLAR – “Cheap Beer” (Video)

Cheap Beer,” the recent internet-hit from L.A. punk rockers FIDLAR, is arguably the best fuck-shit-up anthem we’ve heard since Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard In Da Paint.” And in its new video, from director Ryan Baxley, a marauding biker exacts righteous revenge on anyone with bourgie taste in alcoholic beverages. Watch it and download the song… More »

Stereogum Monthly Mix: September 2012

Fall has fallen, as they say. As a result this month’s mix of ten tracks delivered right on time for September’s grand finale has all the classic ingredients of a prosperous autumn: rap, punk, post-punk, R&B, and a Paul Westerberg song. They appear here generally in that order, diligently sequenced to include Weekend Money +… More »

The Hives, FIDLAR, Luis And The Wildfires @ Observatory, Santa Ana 9/11/12

Prior to their appearance on the Conan, the Hives made a stop at the Observatory in Santa Ana in support of their latest release, Lex Hives. It was a fast and furious seventeen song set augmented by plenty of classic boasts by Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist. Los Angeles based beer-soaked punks FIDLAR impressed with a rambunctiou… More »

FIDLAR – “Cheap Beer”

In the past few months, L.A. punkers FIDLAR have earned a rep as one of those young bands that you really have to see live. And while I can’t personally attest to the truthfulness of that statement, their new song “Cheap Beer,” a fired-up guitar rager, sure seems like something that it’d be fun to… More »

Report & Photos From FYF Fest 2012

Ever since I was old enough to complain, my dad took great pleasure in the act of dragging my always-resistant ass to music festivals. A summer full of glorious music for him meant a summer full of unstifled groans from me. His taste in music back then — folk, folk, and nothing but folk –… More »
