Austin City Limits has been on something of a roll lately. Over the last couple of weeks, the PBS music-performance show has featured Arcade Fire on one show and Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom on another. And on this past weekend’s episode, the show featured another pretty great pairing: Florence & The Machine and Lykke Li. Watch the full hour-long episode with performances from both of them below.

Lykke Li had a pretty good year, releasing the critically successful Wounded Rhymes, got her fair share of TV looks and put out some solid videos. So, now Lykke gives back in the form of a free download for the “Lost Sessions,” which features some alternate takes for Wounded Rhymes cuts. Lykke Li – “Unchained Melody” (Righteous Brothers Cover)

“Unchained Melody,” made famous by the Righteous Brothers, is one of the all-time great drunken-karaoke jams. It’s one of those rare songs where it’s perfectly acceptable for five dudes to get together, mob the stage, and just absolutely wail out every syllable. But in a recent live session for Australia’s Triple J radio, Lykke Li went in the opposite direction with the song. Her version is quiet, tender, and spare, with only an acoustic guitar and a few backup singers accompanying her. She also makes some characteristically weird timing decisions with the track. End Of The Road Festival 2011 In Photos

Last week, the UK’s Larmer Tree Gardens hosted a hilariously deep bill for the End Of The Road Festival, a lineup that featured Joanna Newsom, Kurt Vile, Tinawiren, Lykke Li, Best Coast, the Walkmen and dozens of other notables. Elena Morelli was there to magnificently document the epic lineup. There’s a peacock in one of her shots. You should find it.

This week we’ve got new videos from Lykke Li, Stars, Hooray For Earth, Son Of Kick, and Jargon. A few of the videos I really liked last week had strong actresses stealing the show. Lykke Li does the same here, holding her own in this video with well-regarded Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård. One thing I like about Lykke Li is that her natural, real-life drama makes her a good actress, and one of the few non-big-pop stars that has the charisma to pull off this kind of performance (for another committed female performance, check out the Stars clip). The video from The Chase is a few weeks old, but I like the ridiculous animation style, it reminds me of another cut-and-paste-and-paste-and-paste favorite, Cyriak Harris.
