If you haven’t yet, get a listen of Natasha Khan’s excellent Two Suns LP at MySpace. For those seeking collab tracks, “The Big Sleep“‘s got Scott Walker and Yeasayer bassist Ira Wolf Tuton is on “Daniel” an “Pearl’s Dream.”

Bat For Lashes’ excellent new album Two Suns has plenty gorgeous stuff on it. For instance, we showed you an earlier live incarnation of “Moon And Moon.” If I had to choose favorites, though, I’d point to those Chippendale drums and general windblown feel of opener “Glass,” the chilly, running-in-the-dark dance-floor love song “Daniel,” and Natasha Khan’s ghostly, spare “it’s curtains down time” duet with Scott Walker, “The Big Sleep.” Fittingly, the latter’s the closer … because (a) it’s about saying goodbye and voices fading and (b) it would be difficult following up a guest spot, however brief, from a vocal genius. Pretty much everybody went batty for Natasha Khan’s breathtaking, updated Kate Bush thing on Fur & Gold, and now the woman who wooed Thom Yorke, Mercury Prize voters, and a league of Donnie Darko fans has set aside the covers in favor of a full LP of original goodness. She’s lined up some worthy assistance — Scott Walker, Yeasayer, her backing band the Blue Dreams — but we’re told it’s primarily a Ms. For Lashes affair, as she takes a co-production credit and most of the instrumentals (“pianos, synths, guitar, bass, drums, beat programming and more”). The album’s called Two Suns because it’s all about duality: “two lovers, two planets, two sides of a personality,” neither of which are named Sasha or Fierce. Last year’s freaky good Scott Walker record The Drift was his first in over a decade, and it isn’t for the faint of heart. The man’s had quite the career, morphing from your mom’s teenage crush as part of the Walker Brothers into an uncompromising avant artist — and he’s got some fancy fans. The forthcoming documentary, tracing his progression from ’60s pop star to reclusive genius, will premiere in London on 4/27 (with a possible advance peek at SXSW). Looks amazing. Among the interviewees: David Bowie, Jarvis Cocker, Damon Albarn, Brian Eno, Johnny Marr, Sting, Alison Goldfrapp, Richard Hawley, a Cocteau Twin, and some Radioheads. Here’s the film’s trailer, in which you’ll see a flash of Bowie and a flash of Scott punching a slab of frozen meat. That’s what geniuses do.
