The Babies – “Got Old”

The Babies — side project of Kevin Morby (formerly of Woods) and Cassie Ramone (formerly of Vivian Girls) — hasn’t put out an album since 2012’s Our House On The Hill and, with both members busy pursuing solo careers, it doesn’t seem like there will be something new on the horizon anytime soon. But they… More »

Kevin Morby – “Harlem River” Video

As a member of both Woods and the Babies, Kevin Morby has spent serious time in the lo-fi trenches. Morby released Harlem River, his debut solo album, late last year, and now he’s made a video for the simmering seven-minute folk-rock title track. Adarsha Benjamin directed the video, which is made up of Super-8 style… More »

Stream Kevin Morby Harlem River

As a key member of both Woods and the Babies, Kevin Morby is a busy man, but he’s still found the time to record a delicate and meditative new solo album called Harlem River, an LP that exists on the more bucolic extremes of Woods’ sound. We’ve already posted his songs “Miles Miles Miles” and… More »

Kevin Morby – “Miles, Miles, Miles”

Looks like Kevin Morby is taking a short breather from his excellent bands, Woods and the Babies, to release a solo album titled Harlem River. Before that comes out, though, Morby has shared the first single, “Miles, Miles, Miles,” a particularly lovely bit of folk rock. Backed by a slow and steady drum beat Morby… More »

The Babies – “Mess Me Around” Video

The Woods/Vivian Girls side project the Babies released their sophomore album Our House On The Hill last year, and it’s one of those albums that seems slight at first but sticks with you. The fast, catchy jangle “Mess Me Around” is a prime example of the album’s stickiness, and now it’s got a video from… More »

The Babies – “Baby” Video

Here’s the Babies’ latest clip, a visual which finds singer Cassie Ramone karaoke-ing the band’s Our House On The Hill jangle “Baby.” Timothy Fiore directs. Watch it below. More »

Stream The Babies Our House On The Hill

Next week, the Babies, the side project led by Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone and Woods’ Kevin Morby, will release their sophomore album Our House On The Hill — and now that they’re two albums deep, we might have to stop referring to them as a side project. We’ve already posted the album tracks “Moonlight Mile“… More »

The Babies – “Get Lost”

Brooklyn’s the Babies — the garage pop group that features Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone, Woods’s Kevin Morby and others — will release their sophomore LP in November, and today we’ve got a new single from that release called “Get Lost.” It’s a bright, swinging jam that polishes their sound a little without sacrificing the soul… More »

The Babies – “Moonlight Mile”

The Babies, the lo-fi psych-rock band led by Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone and Woods’ Kevin Morby, will release their sophomore album Our House On The Hill in fall. And the first single from the LP is a garage-pop chug called “Moonlight Mile.” We’ve got it streaming below. More »

The Babies – “Wild I”

I don’t think Cassie Ramone and Kevin Morby’s Vivian Girls/Woods spinoff the Babies‘ “Wild I” is a play on VG’s “Wild Eyes” — that’s a Roman one not an “I.” Though who knows. The song appears on a limited-edition 7″ with “Wild II” called The Wilds. It’s also included on the band’s self-titled Shrimper debut. More »

Titus Andronicus & The Babies Cover “The Sweater Song”

Late last week in Philadelphia, Titus Andronicus and Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone gave the Barbary a spirited cover of Weezer’s beloved “Undone – The Sweater Song.” Ramone was there because the Babies, her project with Woods’ Kevin Morby, opened. Titus main man Patrick Stickles nails and ably improvises the guitar solo because he loves Weezer. More »

New Babies – “Meet Me In The City”

According to their MySpace, Babies is the project of Vivian Girls’ Cassie Ramone, Woods bassist Kevin Morby, Bossy drummer Justin Sullivan, and Stupid Party’s Nathanael Stark on bass. All that said, it’ll largely be the songwriting project of Morby, because bassists need side projects. Take a listen to the shambling guitar-pop howler “Meet Me I… More »
