There are sure to be more dates announced, but for now their only scheduled club appearance went down last night, ostensibly a tune up for their set at Coachella later this week. The LA-heavy lineup last night also featured the Deadly Syndrome and local faves the Happy Hollows, all of whom were caught by the lens of Andrew Youssef. Enjoy his photos, or just enjoy the TwitPic of the crowd at SSPU’s Twitter page. Also worth noting: concession was selling a $95 limited edition version of Swoon with LP/cd/stickers/lyric sheets, and photos. So you know, there’s money to be made in music yet. Silversun’s festival sched:
The Syndrome is turning heads in their native Los Angeles, packing venues and picking up local press praise. Amongst their press clips is a bit from LA Weekly, citing three highly obscure reference points in their belief that the band crafts “explosive, unaffected songs right out of the Arcade Fire/Modest Mouse/Wolf Parade playbook.? Maybe live, maybe on other parts of the record, but there will be no Arcade Mouse Parade here. Instead, “Winter In You” has a sense of Tim Buckley’s woozy longing, shifting gears with a swift key change into a surrealist-folkie hook.

Never really brings that Act III you’re waiting for, but it’s purty. “Eucalyptus” is more in line with the indie canon the LA press has been bandying about, with tom-my kit calls, glockenspiels, and a sure-fire blogger-friendly chorus.

The Deadly Syndrome’s debut LP The Ortolan (a European singing bird about the size of a lark, thank you Google) is out 9/11 on Dim Mak. West coast tour dates with (labelmates and Huey Lewis fans) Oh No! Oh My! and Hot Hot Heat after the jump.
