Charli XCX – “Break The Rules (Tiësto Remix)”

Charli XCX’s sophomore album is now a few months away, but with the era of “Boom Clap” probably ending soon, the record label seems to be betting on “Break The Rules” taking its place on the charts. They’ve just released a Tiësto remix for the song, which means the label’s bringing out the big guns. More »

Forbes‘ Highest Paid DJs 2014 Is Pretty Similar To 2013

Last summer Forbes released a list of the world’s highest-paid DJs topped off by Calvin Harris, Tiesto, and David Guetta. This year’s list is out, and guess what? It’s topped by Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and (in a third-place tie with Avicii) Tiesto. Harris is pulling in $66 million, more than double his closest competition. More »

The Week In Pop: Michael Jackson’s Xscape Is Better Than Nothing

Besides deeply personal reflections, there’s more or less nothing left to say about most legendary musicians in this age of universal access and infinite information. Still, in the interest of challenging assumptions, starting nerdy debates for fun, or (most likely) capturing attention someway somehow, revisionist criticism prospers. Bob Dylan’s much-maligned ’80s output now has itsMore »

The Week In Pop: Meet The New Wave Of British Pop Stars

We at Stereogum have the UK on the brain this week. And while there’s a big difference between “Britpop” and “British pop,” this seems like an appropriate time to point out just how many singers from the motherland have been making waves on these shores. We haven’t quite reached British Invasion levels of saturation; many… More »

Passion Pit – “Carried Away (Tiësto Remix)” Video

The cheesed-out trance-master and ridiculously well-paid human being Tiësto recently worked his magic on Passion Pit’s gleaming Gossamer gem “Carried Away,” and you can probably guess what the result sounds like before you hit play. One thing you cannot guess, however, is the way this ridiculous and pretty-great music video plays out. It tells the… More »

You will not be shocked to learn that there is money to be made in playing dance music to vast crowds of inebriated Europeans. You may, however, be shocked to learn just how much money there is to be made. Celebrity Net Worth recently put together a list of the world’s 30 richest DJs and… More »

Kanye West – “Lost In This World (Tiësto Remix)”

More than a year ago, the Dutch big-room dance DJ Tiësto remixed Kanye West’s “Lost In The World,” the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy closing track that prominently samples Bon Iver’s “Woods.” The song has apparently been sitting around Tiësto’s hard drive for the past year, and he just now got the all-clear to play… More »

Tiësto Remixes Coldplays “Paradise”

Two critical punching bags collide for a remix of Coldplay’s rather catchy “Paradise,” where Dutch electo kingpin Tiësto tricks the track out with the usual Tiësto bells and whistles. So, basically, think of “Paradise” as a big, bloated dancehall banger on the requisite amount of ecstasy, and that’s pretty much the result. Stream after the… More »

Coachella 2010: Die Antwoord, Major Lazer, Flying Lotus

On Friday, James Murphy dedicated “Losing My Edge” to Gil Scott-Heron. For the rest of the weekend, everyone should be covering “Communication Breakdown” and dedicating it to AT&T. Not being able to meet up with your friends because of long delayed texts does cultivate a certain independent spirit, though, and partying with strangers wasn’t a… More »

New Tiësto (Feat. Tegan & Sara) Video – “Feel It In My Bones”

Dutch producer and remixer Tiësto doesn’t show up until the shadowy end of this video for “Feel It In My Bones,” his collaboration with Tegan & Sara from his fourth album Kaleidoscope, but “The World’s Number 1 DJ” made sure his futuristic rave aesthetic reared its Tron-like head from the first note. (Thanks for the… More »

New Tegan And Sara – “Back In Your Head (Tiësto Remix)”

Although “Back In Your Head” is a catchy track, it wasn’t the one we wanted to see the sisters Quin release first (we finally got that one a few weeks ago). It’s also not the one we’d expect to wind up in the hands of trance master Tiësto for a beat-thumping remix; shows how much… More »
