White Denim – “At Night In Dreams” Video

Old-school Texan fuzz-rockers White Denim released their Corsicana Lemonade album last year, and now they’ve got a deeply weird music video for the merrily choogling single “At Night In Dreams.” The animated clip is nothing but cowboy images — rendered first as silhouettes, then as grotesque cartoons — plastered up against dramatic backgrounds. It’s the… More »

The retro Austin fuzz-rock band White Denim has a new album called Corsicana Lemonade coming out next month, and we’ve already posted the Jeff Tweedy-produced lead single “Pretty Green.” Today, they’ve shared the quicksilver classic rocker “At Night In Dreams” which would be a total lock for the next Guitar Hero installment if they were… More »

The Jeff Tweedy-produced “Pretty Green” is a glimmer from Austin garage rockers White Denim’s upcoming album Corsicana Lemonade. The scuzzy cut is one of a couple from the band’s 10-track fifth studio record produced by the Wilco bandleader and his production partner Tom Schick. Check out the track via a stop-motion animation clip below. More »

End Of The Road Festival 2011 In Photos

Last week, the UK’s Larmer Tree Gardens hosted a hilariously deep bill for the End Of The Road Festival, a lineup that featured Joanna Newsom, Kurt Vile, Tinawiren, Lykke Li, Best Coast, the Walkmen and dozens of other notables. Elena Morelli was there to magnificently document the epic lineup. There’s a peacock in one of… More »

New White Denim Video – “I Start To Run”

We’ve heard and pondered the gurgling, dark This Heat! psychedelia of Fits’s “Mirrored And Reverse,” but “I Start To Runt,” the first single from White Denim’s second collection, finds the Texas trio in more upbeat territory. Here, the soulful garage swivel’s fleshed out by the Tom Haines-directed video, which feels like Time Bandits for some… More »

New White Denim – “Mirrored And Reverse”

Those of you bored by White Denim’s soulfully herky jerky garage shake shake shake could be pleasantly surprised by the gurgling, chillier psychedelia of “Mirrored And Reverse.” The denser, more fluid track’s still plenty bluesy, etc., but it finds the Texas trio sounding like autumnal This Heat!, or maybe dusky Blue Cheer (or, OK, Comet… More »

Iceland Airwaves ’08 Report

Before we kick off the bulk of this week’s CMJ coverage, we’re gonna look all the way back to last week’s Iceland Airwaves Festival. Stereogum sent photog Abbey Braden overseas to take it all in. When not commiserating with locals about our countries’ financial crises, Abbey caught dozens of sets from familiar standbys (Fuck Buttons,… More »

New White Denim Video – “Shake Shake Shake”

Interesting things tend to happen when White Denim get around cameras. Sometimes they film naked old people, sometimes they bust our lenses. This time the scrappy Texan trio are mired in a scrapheap, surrounded by busted up jalopies, streaked in grime, whipping through “Shake Shake Shake” at the center of a dance party of scuzzy… More »

New White Denim – “Goldie Locks”

We’ve long ago forgiven blazing Austin-based garage triad White Denim for kicking the mic stand into Scott’s camera this past CMJ, but some of us are still processing the nudie old folks in their video for “… More »

New White Denim Video – “Look That Way At It”

Austin trio White Denim save their signature shouts for another day, and deliver a squiggly, jagged, mildly funky instrumental cut with “Look That Way At It.” And what says squiggly, jagged, and mildly funky better than doodles of a naked old man heaving on a stool? Nothing. The answer to that is nothing. Or so… More »

White Denim Premieres Song At RCRD LBL, Busts Our Camera At CMJ

Last week, jerky-loose and ball busting Austin trio White Denim premiered the first single from a four-track EP exclusive to RCRD LBL, the recently launched ad and label supported, free music download site. Aside from getting MSTRKRFTy with their vowel omissions, the joint venture between Downtown and Engadget/Gizmodo founder Peter Rojas will be indie i… More »
