I think that is actually as close to normal as he gets. He was way crazier that this in his Whiskeytown days.

I completely agree Stephen.

Just because high school girls like a band does not mean they suck (although it may be a good indicator). I get so tired of this indie music trend to hate everything that sells a lot of records. August is a classic and both Satellites and American Girls are good albums which should be judged by the music, not by who listens to them or what soundtracks the songs appeared on.
