There’s probably no album this year that will face more contention than Baroness’s Yellow & Green. (That Lana Del Rey album came out last year, right? No?) The third track to be released from the Savannah, GA quartet’s forthcoming double-LP is also the furthest they have veered from metal to date (including the transitional track “Steel That Sleeps The Eye,” from 2009’s Blue Record, and that song sounded like Fleet Foxes!). The band’s Southern groove and hard-stomping rhythm are here in full, but everything is slowed down, more melodic, less punishing. Check it out at Spin.
