Patterson Hood – “Come Back Little Star”

Drive-By Truckers frontman Patterson Hood will release his third solo LP, Heat Lightning Rumbles In The Distance, in September, but the album’s first single, “Come Back Little Star,” can be heard right now. Co-written and performed with Kelly Hogan, the song is a delicate and devastating ballad for a fellow Southern songwriter who passed away several years ago. “[Hogan] began the lyrics as a song for our late, dear friend Vic Chesnutt, and I rewrote it with the intention of her recording it for her album,” Hood told Rolling Stone. “She ended up letting me put it on my album and it’s a highlight to me.” RS has the song, too. Check it out.
