M83, aka Anthony Gonzalez, toned his sounds down on fifth album Saturdays = Youth, but the emotions remain teenage, achy, and perfectly romantic. Following “Coleurs” and “Graveyard Girl,” Gonzalez is releasing another album standout “Kim & Jessie” as a digital single 7/22 on Mute. It’ll include four “Kim & Jessie”‘s — the album version, a radio edit and remixes from DatA and Montag. If patience isn’t your thing, no worries — we have Montag’s spare, ambient, percussive remix in this week’s Drop. We asked Gonzalez what it felt like to have his tune tweaked. You can check out his responses and listen to the track here.
This week we also offered the chance to win a $105 Def Jux shopping spree.
As Def Jux puts it:
Didn’t get a chance to pick up the new album by Del The Funky Homosapien? Missed out on the latest albums from Aesop Rock, El-P or Dizzee Rascal? Need some new clothes because you found yourself waking up this morning in some random person’s backyard with funny stains on your shirt? Well fear not because Def Jux always has your back.
We’ve recently relaunched our site, giving you the ability to add digital and physical merchandise to your cart. Go ahead and buy a digital download of Aesop Rock’s None Shall Pass while picking up a few t-shirts, sketchbooks, belt buckles and more!
We’d like to give you, dear Stereogum reader, the chance to win a $105 digital gift certificate so you can load up your Def Jux shopping cart! Oh, did we forget to mention we made limited edition sneakers designed my Phase 2 and Bisc 1? Oh, and those only cost $105 … lucky you.
CONTEST ENDS 07/30/08 AT 12PM EST.
