When Brandon posted Miles Kurosky’s “I Can’t Swim,” he mentioned that the song packed in “a lot of living.” Life after Beulah had included a marriage and a series of surgeries to repair a shoulder injury. That injury kept Kurosky away from the guitar for a while. “Dog In The Burning Building” is a bit more whimsical than “I Can’t Swim,” as indicated by its lyrics and puppet-filled video. Maybe there’s a hint towards a darker metaphor (the titular dog won’t leave the burning building because of his sense of loyalty), but it’s hard to get too serious when one of the characters in your video is a talking flame.
