Every so often, the rap magazine XXL haphazardly rounds up a mob of young rappers that it considers to be promising prospects, slapping the “XXL Freshman” label on them even if they’ve been rapping for years and even if they have exactly nothing to do with each other. This year, all the members of the class have participated in a new mixtape compilation, contributing new tracks. And even though you may not want any Kirko Bangz or Logic in your iTunes, this bears mentioning because this year’s class includes Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q, Angel Haze, Joey Bada$$, and Ab-Soul, and all of them have new songs on the tape.
