Within the last year or so, Josh Tillman has gotten much more mileage out of his scraggly and mysterious musical alias, Father John Misty, than he has out of his real name: Since he took on the moniker after leaving Fleet Foxes in early 2012, you’ve ranked FJM the 7th best new act of 2012, and his sprawling freak-folk debut record Fear Fun as the 12th best album of 2012.

Today, though, the man put his real name to use: Josh Tillman himself shares directing credits (with Grant James) on the VHS-styled, ruin-filled, and rather grim music video for “Funtimes In Babylon,” a sun-baked track from his debut release. Watch it now.

Another piece of news, however, finds Tillman hiding behind his alias once again – after all, maybe only Father John Misty could pull off wearing a women’s perfume. That’s right: in the form of a promotional video, FJM, working with Sanae Barber of SANAE Intoxicants perfume lab, has announced the release of a woman’s fragrance called “Innocence, by Misty.” As you’ll see, despite some difficulty choosing his favorite blend, he seems really excited about his choice. Watch it now.

FJM is lined up to play Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and Lollapalooza later this year, along with other tour stops, listed below.
