Watch Bernard Sumner Join Johnny Marr In A Live Electronic Reunion

Electronic - "Getting Away With It"

In 1988, the New Order frontman Bernard Sumner and the Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr got together to form the side project Electronic, which also featured the Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant for a while. The group actually released three studio albums, but they’ll always be best known for “Getting Away With It,” the minor-classic 1989 single that introduced them to the world. This past weekend, Marr opened for New Order in Manchester, the hometown of both men, and Sumner joined him onstage during his set. The Electronic reunion lasted for exactly one song, and that song was an appealingly slapdash version of “Getting Away With It.” Watch a fan-made video below.
