Emily Reo - Olive Juice

In April, we heard “Peach” by Emily Reo, from her recent 4-way split tape with three other female electronic artists. It was an apt introduction to the sort of gleaming dream-pop Reo has been recording for nearly four years via various small-run DIY labels. On September 3, Reo will finally release her debut full-length album, Olive Juice, via Elestial Sound, a record she has been carefully crafting for nearly three years. (That’s the artwork, above.) The first single from the album, “Coast,” is sprawling and addictive, lasting for nearly 8 minutes, full of skittering cyclical electronic beats and woozy keys. A soaring, hooky synth melody breezes through the entire track; as Reo self-harmonizes, her voice shifts from subtle to alien-like. Stream the song below, and check out all of her upcoming tour dates with Cuddle Formation and Peace Arrow.
