Ricky Gervais recently revived David Brent, the character he played on the British version of The Office, for a series of online guitar tutorials, which might exist mostly so that Ricky Gervais can show that he actually knows how to play guitar. In one of them, he plays a new song called “Slough,” an ode to the British town where The Office took place. That video’s only been up a couple of weeks, but Toro Y Moi has already recorded a smooth reverb-soul cover of the song — a joke so well-rendered that it seems entirely serious, and a pretty good song on its own terms, too.
