The National’s smoldering intensity is the sort of thing that travels well; I’ve seen people in Europe freak out just as hard over them as people back home. And they certainly looked poised on the most recent episode of the BBC’s Later… With Jools Holland, brooding elegantly through the Trouble Will Find Me single “Sea Of Love” and looking like rumpled stars. I do wish, however, that they’d brought along the little kid from the video. Watch the performance below.
