Earl Boykins – “Leggy Blondes” (Stereogum Premiere)

Earl Boykins is a veteran basketball player known for lasting years in the NBA despite being only 5-foot-5. As of recently, Earl Boykins is also a New York quartet specializing in boozed-up, balls-to-the-wall punk rock. New Bomb Turks frontman Eric Davidson premiered their song “Doves” at CMJ last month, which seems about right given the raucous bluster with which both bands unleash their power chords. “Leggy Blondes,” the second single from debut album FRIENDS, is not a Flight Of The Conchords cover. Rather, it’s an absolute crusher that you should listen to below.

FRIENDS is out 3/25 with a release show booked for 3/27 at Brooklyn DIY venue Shea Stadium with Dead Waves and Flagland. Pre-order the album at Bandcamp. Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for a rapper to call himself Muggsy Bogues.
