Naomi Pilgrim – “House Of Dreams” (Stereogum Premiere)

Swedish-Barbadian singer Naomi Pilgrim got her start singing backup for Lykke Li and others, but her solo career has been kicking into gear in recent months. She already released one self-titled EP in February, and another single called “House Of Dreams” is coming in May. “This is my palace, this is where I live,” Pilgrim sings, “so take your shoes off and stay.” Appropriately, those words exist within a luxuriant sonic environment carved out by Pilgrim plus co-songwriters Fredrik Okazaki and fellow Swede Dante, one built from marvelously unpredictable chord changes, twinkling translucent flashes, and lurching waves of low-end gurgle. It actually does sound like it’s made out of dreams. Hear it below.

The “House Of Dreams” single is out 5/19 on Cosmos and Best Fit. Pre-order the House Of Dreams EP here.
