Questlove is one of many reasons for the success of Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, and this summer the Roots co-leader will expand his TV profile with a new VH1 series. As Executive Producer of SoundClash, each week he’ll bring three artists together in a unique collaborative performance. Per AP, “the concept behind the series is to showcase A-List musicians and rising acts performing a range of songs, from current hits to covers to collaborative numbers, instantaneously.” The series premiere on 7/23 features Lil Wayne, Fall Out Boy, and London Grammar. The following week has Ed Sheeran, Sia, and Grouplove. Diplo will be the show’s host. Maybe this will be like QOTSA/NIN/Lindsey Buckingham at the Grammys!
